It's already a thread in the lounge

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

I believe Flake because he's trying to help us but I don't believe the turtle. If this is put on the floor as a stand alone, it has to be before January 19th. That way it passes the Senate and then it can be attached to the long-term spending bill because by itself it will never come to the floor in the House.

Democrats are still cowards and they turned their backs on us. If they didn't draw a hard line in the sand these last two times and with debt ceiling coming up the GOP knows they're not serious about threatening a shutdown over us.

I'm hoping for some sort of miracle where they dont' have the votes to pass CR on Thursday and Pelosi attaches that shit.

Had to laugh at this. Our lives have been reduced to countdown after countdown.

i said this in the other thread, but wasn't this the bill that was supposed to be on the floor on the calendar sometime already?

“I’ll have to see what the spending bill is,” Pelosi said Thursday during a press briefing. “But I fully intend that we will — we will not leave here without the DREAM Act passing with a DACA fix.

“I’ve made that very clear.”
Remember when Pelosi said this?

I hope this won't happen again with Flake's statement,

i know, i was just worried that his tweet is more posturing/all talk, but i guess it's serious now.
but i don't know if he's specified that it's his bill, maybe it could be another one?
what about the gang of five bill, we haven't heard anything from that either.

libertarian1776 12-20-2017 03:08 AM

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

its the gang of six/five bill that Durbin, Flake, Bennett, Graham is working on but they added Cotton to it after todays news apparently.

it wont be called Dream Act though, probably called border security & fence/wall act of 2017 w/ Dream Act provision.

Way too many January birthdays on DAP. Mine is on the 30th. Hopefully my birthday present is a green card (and getting to watch the cheeto get tripped up by the teleprompter).

I think he was only referring to the Senate proposal and effort. Curbelo and the Problem Solvers will probably come out with something in a couple of days. But I second the ask for the source.

If the HOUSE can't pass their own CR, Dems need to attach it.

Does anybody have a list of people that didn't vote for the last one? I know it was 18 and then can only lose 21 I think. Curbelo and Will Hurd already said they won't vote for it unless DACA is attached and there;s member who resigned last week so that's one less vote.

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

What guarantees the turtle brings this to a vote?

libertarian1776 12-20-2017 03:19 AM

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

The bipartisan group of senators — Flake and Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) — has discussed a legalization plan that would marry the Dream Act, drafted by Durbin and Graham, with a more conservative proposal for Dreamers written by Tillis and Lankford, Flake said.

thats just the senate plan, Curbelo said the House version could come out in the next 24-48 hrs.

The problem is the house . We don’t have the votes in the house

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

Getting Ryan to bring a daca bill for a vote won’t happen though unless it’s attached to a spending bill.

libertarian1776 12-20-2017 03:21 AM

Re: Jeff Flake: Bipartisan DACA in January.

if the Speaker puts it up for a vote, the votes are there. but idk if he will put it up because its not the majority of the majority.

194 Democrats + 34 Republicans.
