I think he's mad no one is taking his bill seriously.

At this point, just pass a clean bridge act with no concessions to any Republican demands. With
the outrageous Republican demands, it's going to be close to impossible to pass anything else.

I don't see a clean BRIDGE Act passing either.

Do you see the GOP allowing renewable BRIDGE without border security/wall? I do not. I think it's more likely DEMs & GOP will let us expire. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Tillis speaking now...hopefully what he says is more reasonable than Grassley. Grassley wants secure act for bridge act.

What's scary about some GOP members is that they want border security, interior enforcement plus the kitchen sink all in exchange for the BRIDGE act. That right there is a non-starter.

Anything short of legalization is bullshit. Grassley is DISAPPOINTING!

Exactly...yet that's exactly what Grassley just whined about on the Senate Floor and called it a 'good faith' effort.

Tillis - “We have to deliver.” It seems like he is also for Bridge Act. Seems like an alright guy...refers to us as the “DACA population” lol

He just mentioned for a “permanent solution” there needs to be a “permanent concession.” Interesting.

Why does chain migration have to be addressed now? They could bar DACA recipients from sponsoring as permanent residents. With the Dream Act, they would have five years to end chain migration in exchange for providing some sort of legal status to the rest of the 11 million (since deporting them is just impractical). I feel like that's what Flake and other moderate Republicans would get behind.

I think we all get it. The BRIDGE act is not what we want or what we strive for. However, the BRIDGE act is better than nothing. The BRIDGE act will at least allow you to drive and to keep on with your studies or work at that job you so hard studied for.

I understand it still gives us uncertainty once it expires, but is better than nothing and who knows what will happen between then. People can say I'm moving to Canada, but if it was really that easy, why haven't you done it? Do people really think is that simple to immigrate to Canada?

I'm sorry but I doubt Canada will welcome every one with open arms.

Then start packing because not everyone shares the same opinion as you and for those who do agree with you, then they should follow your steps and start packing as well. Makes no difference for you to be in this country if you prefer nothing over something when it comes to immigration. It's just that simple my friend.

If I see anyone advocating for the Bridge Act, I will express my vehement opposition to it. I don't see it as any bether than nothing. At least with nothing, you know for sure that you need to invest in a life somewhere else.

Everyone here seems to have a decent grasp of English and a lot of people have college degrees and work experience. I'm pretty sure that's sufficient to qualify under the point system for permanent residency in Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Aren't you also hurting american workers assuming you too are illegal daca recipient? shouldn't you be deported first?

Life is about choices, if you feel like what's on the table is just not good enough for you, then start planning your exit my friend. No one is forcing you to stay here.

Re: DACA being discussed in Senate - LIVE

Not to mention that chain migration doesn't just affect undocumented immigrants. Ending chain migration would prevent families from being unified. There are plenty of us citizens who want to be able to live with their elderly parents and wouldn't be able to. Especially since other visas (even non immigrant ones) are really hard to get.

Yes, BRIDGE Act would still put us in limbo, and if that's unacceptable at the least it would give people time to make plans to exit the country. Remember there's people expiring in March! Even if you qualify under the point system and have enought points to be invited the process takes time.

Well yeah. I understand that. Which is why if there isn't a permanent solution, I am leaving after I graduate in May (if I'm alive by then).

Don’t you think the same logic will come in play in 3 years? People will get their permit forget about snot until they are about to expire and do the same shit over again. Bridge Act is just a false hope of something happening.

Everyone is in a different place in their lives. Some are in the middle of their studies, so waiting three years to get their degree before making any decision makes sense. Some are waiting on a family petition. Some might hope a relationship that is new now might turn into marriage in three years. And some people will never leave unless deported. Who knows what can happen? It might be a false hope. It might not be. This is a very individualized decision. I was two months away from leaving to the UK when DACA was announced because I believed nothing would happen.
