Trump says DACA recipients should be able to stay in the US

This interview was today
https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/25/trum...in-the-us.html

President Donald Trump told CNBC on Thursday that undocumented young people in the United States should be able to stay in the country.
"These are good people. These are good people that should be able to stay in this country," he said in an exclusive interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
In a snippet aired on NBC's "Nightly News," Trump said that he would consider it a "great achievement" to find a solution for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals — a program that his administration ended in September. DACA protects about 700,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children.

Later Thursday, a Republican source told CNBC that the White House is expected to support a path to citizenship for 1.8 million young undocumented immigrants who were either shielded by DACA, or eligible for the Obama-era program.
— Reporting by CNBC's Joe Kernen.

If he'd love us so much, he would demand his DOJ to back off the DACA ruling from the California judge. Instead, he's requesting them to speed up the process in the Supreme Court. That's a lot of love right there lol!

He wants to speed it up so there is an urgency to get something done.

Thank you! I've been saying this all along as well that this is why they call it "negotiations".

I'd say what they put in this frame work for negotiations pretty reasonable, I look at it as a good thing, we went from getting nada or goodlattes bill and contemplating Bridge act 3 days ago to them (maybe) giving us relief with a path to citizenship. I think thats very good progress.

Future tweet:

"The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!"

What if WH is softening its stance now just so they can pass it in the senate. But once it gets to the house, more conservative measures would be added since GOP has more power in the house. It's possible they take away path to citizenship in the house even though the senate passed it. Then trump would sign it but he can say that the house measures were out of his control.

Re: Trump says DACA recipients should be able to stay in the US

Trump is impatient as fuck. I read 5 books from him and its always the same thing, he wants things done quick! Like impossibly quick! He spends no time waiting for anybody. Trust me, ending DACA brought the urgency to congress to get something done.

If he were to bring DACA back, Democrats wouldnt even give a fuck about us and would just push us to support them in the midterms.

If the senate passes a bill, and goes to the house, and then it's modified by the house, it goes back to the senate. They both have to pass the same bill to be sent to the president to sign.

They can send 2 versions of a bill to a conference committee where a compromised bill can be agreed to and sent to POTUS.

Technically if you have had DACA for 5 years than those 12 years become 7. As far as I'm concerned your DACA years count towards this. So that will make 7 years to become a citizen instead of 12. Normally a permanent resident has to wait 5 years in order to apply, so if you do the math we will only be taking 2 extra years.

BTW for those worried about this bill and family migration and are already in progress your application should be fine. This is according to CNN Don Lemon.

Hmmm are you sure thats how its gonna work? I thought it was 10 years and it does not matter how long you had DACA for
