Trump’s latest tweet on DACA

Donald J. Trump
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
DACA has been made increasingly difficult by the fact that Cryin’ Chuck Schumer took such a beating over the shutdown that he is unable to act on immigration!

Might put pressure on Dems

He's kinda right. What more do the democrats want? He gave them a pathway to citizenship. A fucking republican did that. It's supposed to be bipartisan. You have to give AND take. Not just take. Democrats need to swallow some stuff if they wanna pass an immigration plan. Trump is atleast trying.

that's called politics my friend, the democrats want to make sure republicans don't take credit for this, thats why they will try to eliminate any deals from happening, don't forget they went to WH with a proposal that they knew trump was going to reject by purpose.........DEMS want to take control of house and senate and get their credit.

Guys,

Don't waste time in arguing with each other. Whatever your position is, call/tweet and pressure, especially Schumer and Durbin.

Re: Trump’s latest tweet on DACA

I don't know about you guys, but the way I see negotiations going, I don't think they will have reached an agreement by February 8th. If they try to overhaul the entire immigration system for us, it is not gonna work. It has to be done by pieces. This is just my opinion but I don't think family reunification should be negotiated in the dreamers deal, that should be addressed during CIR.

Plus, if they put us on a 10-12 year path to citizenship, it would already take us a long time before we could sponsor anyone. Republicans should just take the wall, border security, and maybe the DV lottery in exchange for legalizing us. Anything else, I see it hardly passing.

Say we get relief and we're on the 10-12 pathway. If we marry a USC, can we AOS via that with a shorter time frame?

You should be able to but it would be a different petition, meaning you have to pay for other forms and stuff. Kind of like reapplying.

Yeah that’s a massive overhaul and cuts legal immigration by 50%, the lowest since 1920. It’s too much.

Exactly! I mean, I know the democrats have publicly said they want to help us, but how can they help us when that means risking the future votes of their constituents? US citizens won't be okay with forgoing from having the possibility to sponsor their parents to give us relief. Cutting legal immigration by 50% in exchange for legalizing us is not a balanced and fair negotiation. I am as tired and angry as you guys for being in this legal limbo for decades, but we have to look at the bigger picture here, the government is always gonna choose the option that benefits the largest group, and we are not the largest group here unfortunately :/. I still hope they reach consensus on a solution that is fair and balanced down the road. For now, get those renewals in and buy yourself some extra years of protection!

I disagree. I think both sides can reach a deal if we keep pressuring.

At this point, who cares about the finger pointing. We just want both sides to resolve the issue.

My initial feeling is that Democrats want to push this issue all the way into the midterms. They’re message is going to be “give us the power and we’ll give you amnesty.”

When Schumer was on Rachel Maddow his message was we don’t have power to do anything and maybe the Republicans will cave once they start seeing Dreamers getting deported. I’m guessing that’s his number one game plan.

It's a win-win for Dems if we get no relief. They can blame the Republicans since they're in charge and they can use us for midterms.

It’s only a win-win if we let them. We must take a stand this November if they sit back and do nothing.

Let me explain, even if its a 'win' for Dems, people don't go out to vote unless they are angry. Dems want their base to be angry that #Dreamers didn't get a clean DA. If something passes, it might be a win, but it doesn't get them more votes (in the short term).
