GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (S.D.) says that congressional negotiators may settle on a slimmed-down immigration deal that leaves aside some of President Trump’s priorities.
Thune said Congress may wind up passing a bill to protect illegal immigrants known as Dreamers from deportation in exchange for more money for border security. Under this scenario, Trump’s demand that Congress limit immigration preferences for non-nuclear family members and end the diversity visa lottery program would be set aside for a later debate. http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3...migration-deal Just give us the ability to travel. |
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
Yea I just want to be able to continue working. The ability to travel would be cool.
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
I'm so frustrated that I will take any fix now honestly...
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
DACa law + ability to travel and border security would make everyone happy
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
A little part of me hopes they'll say we can't sponsor our parents and sneak in a 3 year permit for them. At this rate, any relief for them will come in 30 years
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
It needs to be enough "border security" money in order for Trump to be able to call it Wall funding or it ain't passing.

Can they just allow us to adjust? Like let our companies sponsor?

Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
Actually, we might all be dead in 30 years if these world governments don't stop fucking arounf
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
I'd be happy with a renewable 3 year DACA + the ability to cement travelling without any deep scrutiny or reason. They can shove their citizenship up their ass, I'll get it someday but hopefully from another 1st world country.
Will Never Forget... Now if only I could scrap my military contract... |
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
Dang, no more citizenship path then huh?
Meh...but anyway...as long as they get something done, and it is reasonable, then I am all for it. |

Also, I feel like if the dreamer community showed acceptance towards other alternatives that aren't necessarily a path to citizenship (renewable bridge act with free travel) it would probably make us seem less entitled in the eyes of those conservatives that do not want us here. Trust me, I want a path to citizenship as well, but I will be happy with just being given the chance to get out of this limbo and live my life in peace. |
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
I rather it include aged out dreamers rather than new people after 2012

If we can't travel fuck them. If they give us conditional green cards for fucking ever who gives a fuck lets get that done....

At this point renewable bridge act paired with border security seems reasonable. We can just wait on a future admin to legalize us.
|
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
I don't see Democrats voting for a Bridge Act without it being a clean Bridge Act. Even the spineless Dems wouldn't want to give Trump a win which he would get because they would likely attach the wall. Trump would get to say that he fixed DACA and got his wall while Dems would face the wrath of their base and liberal groups.

Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
I'm sure a lot of us would find a way to AOS at some point anyway. Either through marriage or job sponsorship.
We just need time and security. I'm ok with no path to citizenship |

all this to say that there is a way to terminate if you really want to. probably not the ideal way to go about doing it, but it's a way. |

I'll desperately take anything as long as I can work. They can shove citizenship up thier ass too. I'll get it eventually via my mom who is a citizen and has applied for me.

McConnell says he doesn’t think there will be another gov’t shutdown. Says “there will be a new level of seriousness.” Ryan says interim spending bill is only to give Apps Cmte time to write a lony term spending bill |

Skinny-DACA aka Skinny-Repeal!
FAKE DEADLINE: Due to court ruling that blocked the rescission of DACA, the March 5 deadline is not really a deadline. DACA remains in effect for now unless Supreme Court was to quickly throw out the district court ruling before March, which is unlikely. -@lawrencehurley |
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
@shermancourt
DACA case formally added to Supreme Court's 2/16 private conference. #SCOTUS @GregStohr Greg Stohr Retweeted Mark Sherman Court in theory could say that day that it’s taking up the case. A denial could happen on the 2/20 orders list. |
Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
so SCOTUS gonna strike down the 9th circuit injunction?

Re: GOP leader: Congress may settle for pared-down immigration deal
Wow that was quick. I remember some saying it would take at least 6 months.

the people you just retweeted and other SCOTUS reporters said that the March 5th deadline isnt really real anymore. there is no DACA deadline.
so idk who to believe, but i think 2/16 is to take it up and look into it and by 2/20 they make a decision on either to take and expedite it or deny it and have it go till Summer/Fall. im trying to contact the SCOTUS reporters.
