Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
Democrats are choosing future US citizens brothers, sisters and their kids chain migration green cards OVER Dreamers citizenship NOW. Its now Dreamers VS future immigrations (chain migration, Lottery green cards). Dems will be happy for DACA as long we have work permits no issue to them. I don't think from inside they care if we ever become citizens. Remember 2010? Some Dems voted against Dream act otherwise we would have been citizens by now :(

We are not in a very good spot right now. Trump has backed Dems into a corner and they have no clue on what to do.

@ChrisCoons
5m5 minutes ago More I’m hopeful we’ll get a vote today on my bipartisan immigration bill with @SenJohnMcCain. We should be voting on our different proposals, listening to each other, and trying to find a way forward. That’s how the Senate is supposed to work. |

@ChadPergram Ryan on DACA: We want to find a solution. I hope that our Democratic colleagues are more interested in finding a solution than preserving an issue for campaigns..We'll see what the Senate does this week I don’t think the Goodlatte Bill has the votes . |

@rachaelmbade
@freedomcaucus Chair @RepMarkMeadows just called for “new leadership” in the House Republican Conference, accusing @SpeakerRyan's team of slacking on putting forth a GOP immigration vote @Mepfuller The Freedom Caucus Chairman *seems* to be suggesting a motion to vacate the chair if Paul Ryan puts forth a DACA bill conservatives don’t like. @MEPFuller Pretty sure if Democrats wanted to preserve DACA as a campaign issue, they wouldn’t be offering to give Trump billions of dollars to build a border wall — almost certainly his most memorable campaign promise. @heatherscope Heather Caygle Retweeted Matt Fuller I have yet to talk to a Democrat who has said they want to use immigration as a campaign issue. You already have mods/frontliners begging not to make it central, can't imagine they'd want to campaign on it suddenly. |
Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
It's been 18 years for God's sake. Solve the issue already. Protect all Dreamers under 18 and move the country forward.

GOP Study Cmte chair Walker on the Freedom Caucus lighting up Ryan: I don’t understand this shade that is being thrown at the Speaker. The Speaker followed through on his promises to keep DACA outside of the CR’s..I don’t understand why they’re coming after him with pitchforks @chadpergram

Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
@ChadPergram
Senate Dems have been mtg on immigration/DACA. Path still unclear. Thought is that there could be a series of votes Thurs if they can get a consent agreement to accelerate things |
Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
@ChadPergram
Cornyn on immigration plan: I think we’re going to vote on the president’s proposal last and so if that’s true then maybe just have to see what gets 60 votes..if we vote on it first people will have incentive not to vote for it b/c they’ll want to vote on some pale imitation. Thing to watch in the Senate immigration/DACA/border security vote sequence prospectively tomorrow: The SEQUENCE of the votes. Much of what may or may not have a chance of failing could hinge on which votes on which plan fall where. On Senate immigration debate, the substitute amendment right now is the conservative Grassley proposal which mirrors what Trump wants. GOPers want that last. But unclear if it will stay that way. |
Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
@frankthorp
McCaskill: "I think all the (immigration) votes will be tomorrow, I’m pretty sure, assuming that somebody doesn’t—AKA, *cough* Rand *cough* —doesn’t object we should be able to get all the votes tomorrow." |
Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
If they do not remove the age cap and modify who can petition whom, aged out dreamers who also have immigrant children will never be able to adjust.
Age cap gas to go. |
Re: 2/14 - Tweets Daca/Senate/House Updates
@ChadPergram
McConnell now on the flr, filing cloture on multiple amdts on the amdt tree for the immigration/DACA bill. Lay of the land will presented shortly for votes tomorrow. Senate adjourns until 10 am et Thursday. Tomorrow could prove to be a huge day on DACA/border security/immigration. Still unclear if any proposal can command 60 votes. Otherwise, everything dies in the water |
