A bipartisan group of senators has consensus on a deal to give a path to citizenship for so-called Dreamers and also add funding for border security, GOP Senator Lindsey Graham said.

“I believe our group has come together on an approach,” GOP Senator Susan Collins said, declining to address specifics.

Like I said, all Dreamers have support, Daca, the aged out with families, and the little kid ones. The issue is the changes to the system.

Please don't leave any Dreamers behind. So many families at stake! The longest one has lived here, the more equities they have.

Its just citizenship for 1.8 million and border funding $25 billion.

So the Graham-Durbin bill with some tweaks.

We're going around in circles, people.

Yup, this sounds fair, no need to punish other immigrants by disallowing them from petitioning their parents.

Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-S.C.) Sens. Susan Collins (Maine), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Mike Rounds (S.D.) Sens. Jeff Flake (Ariz.) and Cory Gardner (Colo.) Those are some of
the GOP members, along with Durbin.

Question, if we can't petition our parents what about our US citizen siblings? Its a round about way of getting them citizenship. Are our parents completely off limits?

Under this proposed bill, only those who benefit from this can’t sponsor your parents.

The problem is it maybe unconstitutional. If a dreamer gain US citizenship through the measure...and the current family immigration system is in place, it would violate the equal protection clause.

Maybe we can't sponsor in LPR but once we become citizens we can. We have to wait for hte bill text.

I’m sure they know what to do, before bills are introduced they’re revised by lawyers.

Perfect bipartisan bill with compromises from both sides! Though I don’t think Trump will be on board at all, at this point it’s what Republicans want and I doubt this is a contender bill.

This bill is good. At this point all they're doing is adding more bills to the mountain. When is voting going to begin?

That's a valid concern, but I think it would pass constitutional muster. If the class is not a suspect class, Congress only needs a rational basis to pass the law (low standard) and avoid an Equal Protection violation. Alienage is a suspect class, but that's regarding citizens and non-citizens, not between citizens.

it's practically DOA.
citizenship for 1.8 mil, and they're only conceding border security.
if they removed the diversity lottery, maybe then we'd be getting somewhere.

Too many damn groups of Senators trying to pass the perfect bill. It’s as if they don’t realize you can’t please everyone. Trump is sticking to his guns if they don’t end chain migration, the visa lottery he’s not on board. Trump wants no one here but white Corporate America. I’m sorry but this is about passing some sort of CIR that will be a permanent fix for immigration so the racist establishment will stop at nothing less. Democrats are catching hell from a lot of immigrant advocacy groups not to buckle for the sakes of Dreamers. Unfortunately this is way bigger than us !!

Everything would have been fine if Democrats initially agreed to give him his wall. That was all he was asking a few months back, but probably after seeing Dems dont have any balls he saw the opportunity ask for anything he wanted

probably, but im sure they're going to try to trim the number of eligible people down if dems refuse to concede on both the visa lottery, and chain migration.
at that point what do they even have to bring to the negotiation table?
border security, which is actually a bipartisan issue?

you are delusional if you thought trump would only ask for a wall in return for giving citizenship to 1.8 million people.
maybe if it was just the daca population, he would've considered it, but even then i doubt it would've included a reasonable path to citizenship.

Trump only wants a wall, he’s said it many times before. It’s his white nationalists who want more.

True. I think back then he only supported a path to legalization for current DACA only, but even that would have been better than the shit show that is happening now (Trump threatening to veto any senate bill, the current "passable" proposals that will at minimum screw over our parents, and whatever the conservative house comes up with)
