House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has convinced Ross to hold off by promising him a vote on a guest worker program before the August recess.

What a patsie this Ross

No DACA deal yet as moderates, conservatives emerge from @SpeakerRyan office. @RepJeffDenham says the two groups gonna huddle separately now, wouldn't say whether they'll get 218 tonight for discharge petition

New: @RepJoeBarton tells me he's "probably not" going to sign the DACA discharge petition. Moderates had been hoping he might be their 218th after they lost @RepDennisRossb earlier.

3:58 PM - 12 Jun 2018

take this as you will

Dan Newhouse just walked out of the chamber. He has not signed the discharge petition, but the House has not adjourned yet.

(They need 218 signatures on the discharge petition if they're going to force a vote before the end of June.)

Breaking comment from @SpeakerRyan: "you've gotta try, I guess" as I ask him what the next five hours look like.

Apparently the moderates are taking the few hours they have before the House adjourns to consider their options.

They're not *not* signing the discharge petition. But they also haven't *signed* the discharge petition. So anyway, Congress is cool. Lawmakers are decisive.

Carlos Curbelo heads back into Speaker Ryan’s Office after votes to continue #Immigration #DACA negotiations - have GOP moderates bluffed on having the signatures needed for the discharge petition?

“We know we have another opportunity in July...we knew when we started that we would have another opportunity,” @RepCurbelo outside ongoing negotiations in @SpeakerRyan office while the floor is being held open in case members decide to sign on to the petition.

.@carloslcurbelo: the Speaker’s office committed to keep the floor open tonight. There are “more than 3” members waiting to see if any deal/commitments materialize today

He says both the discharge petition reaching 218 and a Republican immigration deal are a “possibility” today

If Ryan is leaving the floor open it is because he knows the votes arent there. This nigga cancelled this monday's session just because he was afraid the votes were there a month ago. He is more confident now that the votes will not happen. He will probably be eating popcorn in the chamber. See ya'll on the next roller coaster
