Twitter News/Updates 06/21/18
I ask that everyone post Twitter updates in a single thread and any relevant news articles ahead of the vote on the GOP Compromise Bill in a single thread.
Happy Thursday. Playbook is out — massive day on the hill for the president and gop.- @JakeSherman Today's immigration votes will prove if Republicans are capable of governing WASHINGTON — A crisis at the border. An outraged American public. Uncertainty about what comes next. And today, the House of Representatives is set to vote on two comprehensive immigration bills — the conservative Goodlatte bill and a more moderate GOP bill — that will determine if the Republican-led House is capable of governing.- Source |

both bills will fail, and hopefully moderates wake up and compromise with Dems on the USA Act, a real bipartisan bill. |

ModGOP is basically Dems. No different. It is sick that Dems want us DACA to suffer in uncertainty so they can score political points. Sick |

Never wanted bills to fail more in my life. These bills cause more harm then good... Even those that benefit from it walk a thin line that they are likely to fall from. |
Re: Twitter News/Updates 06/21/18
What do you guys predict will happen today? Let's see who gets it right. My guess is both bills will fail to get enough votes...the blame game will follow.

Trump tweet: What is the purpose of the Hse doing good immigration bills when you need 9 votes by Dems in the Senate, & the Dems are only looking to Obstruct (which they feel is good for them in the Mid-Terms). GOPers must get rid of the stupid Filibuster Rule-it is killing you! Or here's a crazy idea...work on a bipartisan solution. |

Finally maybe Republicans will do the right thing and go nuclear on this.

Re: Twitter News/Updates 06/21/18
Calling it a compromise bill doesn't make it so. Thousands of Dreamers including many DACA recipients won't benefit from Goodlatte 2.0.

Up in the queue then is the "moderate" bill crafted by the GOP ldrshp. That immigration bill provides $25b in direct funding for the wall. Has a better chance to pass than 1st farm bill. June 21 by Felicia Sonmez What to expect in the House today Here’s a preview of the action in the House today: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is expected to address reporters at 10:45 a.m. From around 11:15 to 11:45 a.m., the House will have its first procedural votes on the more conservative immigration bill. Then debate on the bill will begin. House Speaker Paul Ryan will brief reporters at 11:30 a.m. From 1:10 to 1:40 p.m., the House will vote on the conservative immigration bill. That bill is expected to fail. Then, from around 2:50 to 3:20 p.m., the House will hold procedural votes on the compromise immigration bill, followed by debate on the bill. The House is expected to vote on the compromise bill at about 4:50 to 5:20 p.m. – but, as with all things Congress, this timeline is subject to change. 10:11 AM June 21 by Mike DeBonis ‘It’s going to blow up,’ says House member on immigration bill Rep. Ryan Costello, a Republican from Pennsylvania who is not running for reelection, predicted that the House would not pass an immigration bill today. Costello said in an interview that President Trump “knows exactly what he’s doing” with tweets about immigration. Trump told House Republicans that his Twitter account was powerful, he said. Trump earlier tweeted that any Republican immigration legislation could pass the Senate, which GOP aides said could hurt efforts to pass a bill in the House. “We’re going to blame Democrats and at the same time give cover to people who may not want to vote for the compromise bill,” Costello said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...=.1ca561ca9ff6 |

Get your renewals money ready...
Come December if DACA is still alive send it. |
Re: Twitter News/Updates 06/21/18
The fact there is a gap between the voting times of both bills makes me think Trump will send a tweet providing full support for the compromise bill after the first bill fails to pass.

Re: Twitter News/Updates 06/21/18
Some people in this forum want these two bills to pass . Seriously , have you read all the details of these two bills ? Do you know that 85 % of DACA receipients will be excluded due to the hardline eligibility requirements ? This is not compromise bill , they are all republican bills try to kick out as many people as possible.
