Updated Nov 7, 2018

Washington (CNN) - President Donald Trump on Wednesday asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign, effectively firing him.

Sessions' resignation letter has been delivered to White House chief of staff John Kelly.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to remain in charge of the Russia investigation and special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump did not answer a direct question about Sessions during his news conference Wednesday, saying that on the whole he is "extremely" satisfied with his Cabinet.
This story is breaking and will be updated.

I watched this old elf looking turd denounce DACA. Felt like I was given the death sentence. Good to hear that he’s out of the office.

Not sure if this is a good thing.

Despite not liking his views on immigration at all, he held his own against firing Rosenstein.

With Democrats in control of the House, of course we are looking at two solid years of investigations into the White House, healthcare battles and huge disagreements on funding.

Trump, I believe, was tactical in asking Sessions to leave because he doesn't want to play defense while having what seems like a complacent AG and Democrats now in control of the House investigating him. I wouldn't be surprised if between now and before the next Congress the President tries everything to now actively disrupt the Meuller probe.

His replacement will be just as bad for us. I just hope Lindsay Graham stays in the Senate. We need as many DACA supporters there as we can.

Re: Jeff sessions will be replaced.

Word on the street is that Lindsay Graham is a closet gay (nothing wrong with being gay) and the Russians have blackmail on him. hence why he's gone off the rails - especially during the Kavanaugh hearings.

Regarding DACA, I agree, we should keep him around. DACA and the wall, he's going to help us marry those two up.

I disagree. The media, as it was doing some months back when they had nothing to report, is spreading panic and overreacting. Müller has wrapped up his investigation and justice will be served to Trump & Co.

We should be thankful of Trump actually. Took Sessions out from the Senate by hiring him as AG. Then a year later fired him. Now he is gone forever!

And he didn't just take Sessions out of the Senate, he gave Democrats an additional seat!

I don't get why people are freaking out about the Müller probe being compromised. You guys that believe it's over must think lowly of Bob Müller, who has decades of experience and has managed to get a handful of Trump's allies to flip on him.

If you guys think Müller was not prepared for this, ya'll trippin. Müller has had indictments sealed for months - stop freaking out and stop believing 100% what the media tells you. Trump & Co. will go down.

It doesn't change the fact that Trump isn't above the law and shouldn't end the investigation until it is completed. That is called obstruction of justice.

According to CNN Chris Christie is leading right now to be the next attorney general.

It's not Mueller that I don't trust, it's Congress. Supreme Court will likely rule against indicting a sitting President. So then it terms into impeachment and I don't trust GOP to do the right thing.
