BREAKING: Trump administration to undertake DACA review in new bid to end program!

U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration plans to allow so-called ‘Dreamer’ immigrants to renew deportation protections for a year while it reviews a Supreme Court ruling, a senior administration official said on Tuesday.

The administration is preparing a fresh attempt to end the program that shields from deportation hundreds of thousands of immigrants living in the United States illegally after entering as children - a group often called ‘Dreamers.’

The administration plans to continue its existing policy of not accepting new DACA applicants, a policy in place since 2017, the official told Reuters. But the administration will extend the eligibility by a year for those DACA immigrants whose protection from deportation was due to expire, as long as they do not have a criminal record, the official said.

“For anyone who refiles, if they are eligible and were set to expire, we will renew them on a case by case basis into the next year for an extension,” the official said.

The decision means the program will remain in place through the Nov. 3 presidential election, in which Trump is fighting for a second term against Democrat Joe Biden.

hahajaha 2Face is gonna be so happy. This action confirms everything coming out of Trump's mouth is BS.

Shame on me for believing such BS when he announced he will sign an EO to protect DACAers.

Looks like renewals are continuing, what are you talking about. DACA still in place.

He can't do that he has to follow court order so everything has to go back to pre 2017

@mjs_DC
Strongly disagree. They're not accepting new applications, and there's no "one more year" provision of the 2012 DACA memo which is currently still in place following the rescission. This just affirms that they ARE going to violate the court order.

@W7VOA
"It's not a new program, we've issued a new memo" about #DACA, explains the senior administration official.

@W7VOA
Asked if court challenges expected due to the new memo and not accepting new applications, the official replies: "Yes, of course."

Do they mean one more year of DACA on which we can renew for 2 more years or new EADs with one year validity ?

The "best" thing those big brains could do is restore the program fully and do the 60 day comment period to rescind it, but they won't so it'll just get tied up in courts, again, and we'll go all the way to the Supreme Court, again which will dismiss the matter for mootness since there'd be a different President in the office who'd restore the program.

Yes, we need to have Dem President in office ASAP, so they can restore the program fully forever. We need to make sure DACA remains the way it was before Trump came in, forever and ever.

You can keep DACA forever if so you choose. The rest of us are getting GCs once a newly elected democratic congress and president take over next year.

Yes, That is very good. Have you had a chance to see the magic wand that they will use to give you a GC?

Why are you against a full DACA program?! Don't you know we love DACA here and want it to be here in full! Why are you supporting the end of DACA?!

They gave him instructions. He's instead, throwing a tantrum and doing this. Chad Wolf isn't even confirmed by the Senate and this is likely unlawful based on that alone!

The level of incompetence alone is astonishing.

No one needs a magic wand to realize you are full of BS 99% of the time. Once a DACAer always a DACAer, the next upgrade are GCs. You keep DACA FOREVER since you love it so much and are happy your lover (impeached) is about to f u up big time.

It seems to me like there will be no further action until after the elections, so you can probably wait it out a little to get more months. I wish you would have sent your renewal couple weeks ago because now they will be renewing your case for only 1 year instead of 2, but again can't feel bad because none of us saw this coming. You will most definitely be renewed for 1 year that is for sure.

So you've officially come out in support of full ending of DACA, you must be happy about today's ruling! Wow. Why do you support DHS with this...

You're just crying because your boy won't deliver. I support ending DACA only if it is to get GCs. You instead are a switchback. First wanted Trump to end the program and now for it to last forever, crying because Trump (impeached) is wanting to terminate the program. Where is the EO he said he will sign ? Remember ?

Wait so what about those whose I-765 status says “card is being produced” but it’s been like that for a week? Since it’s been like that before the memorandum, it should still be 2 years right?

Timeline below:
Permit expires: 12/18/2020
Received: 05/06/2020
Bio letter: 05/09/2020
I-765 Approved: 7/20/2020

Yes, the best outcome with Democrats in place is going to be exactly that. Full DACA, absolutely ditto the way it was as Obama issued the 2012 memo, with full AP capability. This is 100% going to be the outcome.
