Movement on Hanen case, states ask to strike down DACA

@TXAG
+ 8 other states urged a Texas federal judge in a new filing today to strike down DACA in a 2018 case, in light of Biden's recent EO to "preserve and fortify" DACA.

The states claim they shouldn't "have to wait for the program to become even more unlawful" for a ruling.
Also note, Biden administration asked for 60 days so they can "become familiar with the issues in this case"

If they want to kill it, now is the best time. If they wait for a Republican president, then we may be screwed.

And that is why I was being even positive at that time. The only problem turned out to be is that fucker Stephen Miller who killed so many opportunities we had. Trump was an idiot for listening to that guy otherwise something would have surely passed.

All that is history now...The focus now should be on Biden Admin....nobody cares about Trump any more, he can piss of.

@NickRiccardi
HOUSTON (AP) — Judge bars U.S. from enforcing 100-day ban on deportations, dealing an early blow to President Biden’s immigration plans.

@TomJawetz
There may be no immigration enforcement issue more settled in Supreme Court jurisprudence than that the executive has extensive discretion to decide whether to pursue removal at all—discretion that extends to every stage of the process.

Biden's plans are here to stay. And the plan is immediate legalization of all Dreamers. Dreamers deserve conditional green card immediately and Congress is going to pass legislation very soon. Biden's plan is not to keep DACA alive forever. It is to maintain DACA and find a legislative solution. We here are for Dreamer legalization! Go Biden!

Biden better get this done. There won't be another Dem president allowed by GOP state legislatures whether by voter suppression in cities or by never certifying another election where a Dem wins. Trump's done more damage to this country than anyone, there won't be a democracy in this country in 10 years.

If that is the case, are you planning to leave, whay fight for legalization?

Politics and trends like this fade in and out. There will be another shift again in a few years. There are check and balances as we saw in this election. GOP will try to suppress the votes but will be fought. Look at Georgia.

Trump tried that. Dems blocked the bill. They don't want to legalize us. They just introduce absurd absurd laws knowing they have no chance so they can blame republicans then use us next election cycle. I don't know why people still hope for dems to do anything. I hope I'm wrong but it's hard to trust them when they keep doing same shit over and over again.

What? Dems were willing to give Trump his full border wall money for DREAM Act. That was a real compromise. Then the GOP came along with their stupid 8 pillars knowing the Democrats would never agree to those.

Actually Dems wanted something ridiculous like no deportation to those to got here within the year

This was the Dems poison pill

They knew GOP would never agree to that

Lmao when did the Democrats blocked the DA? Last I checked the Republicans have killed it everytime. I didn’t realize we have MAGAs here. And yeah September 2017. Democrats came with 30b wall plus DA and trump
Loved it. Less than 24 he changed his mind.

Why does this forum love to hold democrats accountable while only expecting the republicans to have some compassion?

People here

“Democrats help usssssss”

Democrats: nah but sending you prayers
Republicans: HELL NO in fact we are gonna kill daca

People here “omg democrats don’t care for us!!!”

What about Republicans? I thought they were god fearing good men!

What nonsense are you making up? Their 2017 bill gave trump 30 billion to enforce and build whatever he wanted. Trump said it was a good bill.

I do not recall that being part of any serious bill brought up to the Senate floor. Do you have a link?

After Trump agreed to wall money + DREAM Act, and then changed his mind, any hope of a deal was lost. How do you negotiate with someone that might backtrack at any time?

The Supremes should have KILLED DACA so Congress would have gotten it's aft together.

And here we are again with the same lawsuits.

It’s easier said than done now that we know what the outcome of the election is.

Had the Supreme Court would have ended DACA, what makes you think Congress would have rushed to help us when they can’t even agree for healthcare and COVID aid for American citizens?

Yes I understand we wanted the Supreme Court to act so we can get some certainty, but with all the current events happening as we speak, that answer would have not come anywhere soon, meanwhile Dreamers would be expiring at a high rate and losing their jobs.

Its easy to see how this country became so fractured with so many people voting against their own interest. To think that even in a forum like this, there are those that that think Democrats are solely to blame for the DA not passing, despite 4 years of an openly racist, xenophobic Republican administration intent on permanently limiting immigration - legal and otherwise.

Yeah, we have morons like that here.

Personally, I think the argument over the issue is far more useful for both political parties than solving the issue. That was very apparent when trump turned down $25billion for the dreamers deal made by Chuck back in 2016. Then you have house dems passing a partisan dream act v2 that had 0 chance of becoming law close to election time.

That is our sad reality.. the only thing we can do is keep fighting.

I don't have a link right now

But as soon as I find it I will post it

I am 100% sure Dems inserted a bad faith backdoor poison pill

You’re not going to find it because it never was there. Don’t you have charity to collect or something

Fair argument, but at some point people and some immigrant orgs will lose patience with dems. There is research pointing to disillusionment amongst hispanics with dems because they never put up when it comes to immigration, some people switched to republicans in the 2020 elections because of this. Why do you think dems are making a big fuss about immigration from the get go?

The time is now, the left ran out of patience.
