Anyone gotten the vaccine yet?

I got my second Moderna dose yesterday and today has been hell.

Got my second dose yesterday morning. Pfizer.

Have no side effects except for a sore arm. Not sure if I should be worried going into day 2.

^What symptoms/side effects are you experiencing, CSUSenior.

Everyone I know that took moderna has had a rough go of it. Every one I know that took Pfizer had either no side effects or just a sore arm or other rather light symptoms. I think I’m holding out for Pfizer for myself.

First dose of Pfizer yesterday. Very sore arm yesterday/today, had the chills last night (no fever). Feeling a bit off this morning, but nothing too terrible.

One of my coworkers was sick for two days after first dose of Pfizer, so you never know!

I read you'll have stronger side effects or a higher chance at them after the first dose if you had COVID prior.

Yea, I read that too.

Immune system response can vary greatly. Don't be worried if you have a strong response after the vaccine, and also don't be worried if you have no response.

Took the Pfizer in December, 2nd dose in January. Felt tired and muscle soreness the day after after the 2nd dose, that was about it.
Still alive, unfortunately.

I had a fever, headaches/general pain and major weakness (I could barely stand without taking a Tylenol). I should’ve gotten the Pfizer one.

In December? Are you an essential worker?

I got the first dose of Pfizer last week.
I had a sore arm and 24 hours later I felt like shit with a 100-degree fever.
I am not looking forward to the second dose.

Update: The second dose was a cake walk with no symptoms

Got my second dose of Pfizer a while back. I got lucky. The second dose hit me a little harder than the first dose but it was mostly fatigue. It's nice to be able to socialize again but more importantly I'm a caregiver for old folks so I don't want to get them sick.

I have a crazy religious aunt that says the vaccines are made from aborted fetuses and donated cadavers and will have none of that in her body. She also thinks they have a microchip which will enable the government to track you.

It sounds likely that you had covid at some point.

We don't know the potential side effects down the line. Also not enough time was spent on vaccine trials. I would like to see what will happen to those people who took it in a year or so.

Tell your aunt that the government already track us by using our cell phone location data :)

What are you basing any of that on? How much time was spent on the Polio vaccine? What's your background in that would allow you to second guess people who actually dedicate their lives to this?

And also if you have been exposed a lot to COVID even though you did not get it...My friend who's a doctor been working in covid unit for the past year had to literally go to the hospital after his second shot because he couldn't break the fever...My dad was good all day after second shot, and night time had severe chills...went away magically in the morning.

pepper for boosters:

https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2...ovid-19-strain

Nevertheless, it is a “variant of concern” (VOC) and is being closely monitored. The genome sequencing carried out by a consortium of 10 labs in India, called the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics (INSACOG), has identified two important mutations in the new variant, giving it the unfortunate title of “double mutant”.

First, the E484Q mutation, which is similar to the E484K mutation identified on the Brazilian and South African variants, can change parts of the coronavirus spike protein. The spike protein forms part of the coronavirus outer layer and is what the virus uses to make contact with human cells, bind to them, then enter and infect them.

The vaccines have been designed to create antibodies which target the spike protein of the virus specifically. The worry is that if a mutation changes the shape of the spike protein significantly then the antibodies may not be able to recognise and neutralise the virus effectively
. Scientists are investigating whether this may be the case for the E484Q mutation.

The second is the L452R mutation, which has also been found in a variant thought to be responsible for outbreaks in California. Scientists believe this mutation increases the spike protein’s ability to bind to human host cells, thereby increasing its infectivity. The study also suggests this mutation may aid the virus in evading the neutralising antibodies that both the vaccine and previous infection can produce, though this is still being investigated.

I don't know why there's too much hype with this microchip thing, if they're so afraid they could get it from Pfizer or Moderna, then take vaccines made by other countries.

Yeah I work in manufacturing... I don’t even know how they would get “microchips” in there. 10 at that. And somehow make sure that the nurse only grabs one for each dose. It’s laughable.

Also, feeling good today. Last night I felt pretty bad, had a tough time sleeping, but feeling normal today.

We all have different reactions to the vaccine and that's one thing I believe though, I'm glad all is well with you.

I read about that, but if I did get covid at some point I must've been asymptomatic.

I received the Pfizer vaccine around December. I signed up quickly because the moderna was going to be released soon too and idk why I didn’t want that one. Everything went well with Pfizer my mom got hers too later on.

Laura Eugene's husband is in the hospital fighting for his life. She says they got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine back on March 6.

Eugene says on April 1, her husband started to feel sick.

"He started to feel like he had a sore throat stuffy, his coughing and then he started to run a fever, started to feel fatigue. He just gets it every day -- just kept on getting a symptom," she said.

Her husband tested positive for COVID on April 1, she says. Now he is in critical condition and is being treated for pneumonia as well.

You also have a small chance of getting hit by a meteor right after getting the shot.
Or getting into a car accident on the way home after the shot.
Or getting hit by lightning after getting the shot.
Or choking on your lunch sometime after getting the shot.

Best not to gamble.

I am a care giver for an octogenarian with heart failure and lung issues. He's on oxygen and can barely walk to the bathroom before he's short of breath. If he catches COVID, he'd 100% be dead and he didn't have any issues with the vaccine. Even with the vaccine, he still might catch it because it's not full proof so of course I took it too to lessen the chance of him getting it. If you don't want to take it, fine, just say you're selfish but don't invent reasons.

Vaccines are not 100%, so it's not surprising that some fully vaccinated people will still get COVID (apparently this is called a 'vaccine breakthrough' and occurs with all vaccines). It is somewhat surprising that the man is so critically ill, but he does have diabetes (so his immune system is already compromised).
