Dealing with life in the US

How have you been dealing with the challenges of living in the US as a Dreamer and what are you doing to overcome each one of them? Feel free to share it here.

What specific challenges are you referring to? Only thing we can’t do is leave the country and come back.

I agree, sure we are not citizens but we have it much better than the other 10M undocumented.

You are not missing out much. There are barely any good games available on PS5 right now.

I’m an aspiring gaymer but I don’t have the time to make the transformation.

I hear ya. For me, work and other hobbies mean it takes me months to finish a game nowadays.

Oh I could write a book about my challenges. I am actually...It won't ever see the light of day for as long as I'm alive but it'll be written.

I've had lot of challenges as an ex-Dreamer.

For a long time being illegal affected me but when I started changing my mind set it becomes a much smaller part in my life. Having DACA definitely helps but I know plenty of full illegals who are successful.

I try not to think about it too much. I make 25 years here in June (arrived from Spain at the age of 4). Yea, I feel like I was robbed of what could have been a better life but I try to remain positive and think of the good experiences, people and opportunities I’ve garnered along the way. My s/o of 10 years is illegal and working on resolving that issue. I can’t talk to anyone about it cause that is a whole other story :( My mother is still illegal. It’s a shit show of a life but one must try to look at life with glass half full eyes. I’m healthy, I work in Tech for an amazing company in NY. Just gotta keep the faith and take it one day at a time.

Become an overachiever, develop resilience, and be grateful that I have/had DACA.

I can never understand depressed DACA dreamers, I mean just look around at those who aged out.

You seem more concerned with jerking yourself off on this forum than actually supporting anyone.

Not my intention, but I'll see myself out.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I need to ask when it already affects you mentally, is it right to ask for support outside your family? Do you have any good experience working with a therapist or counselor?

Been here since like 10 (26 now)honestly i could care less, im a professional in the critical infrastructure industry, daily drive a modified sports car and money isnt an issue. Having DACA doesnt affect me one bit since im not a subhuman that gets in trouble with the law, never done drugs, alcohol or smoked anything ever and never will.

We all must become the best of the best to make our parents proud and show everyone that even with this sht, we are more worth to be here than the vast majority of legal immigrants.
