House Democrats punt key vote on budget to Tuesday

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her leadership team struggled to round up the votes to move forward with a strategy to enact President Biden’s multi-trillion-dollar domestic agenda, ultimately opting to punt a key procedural vote until Tuesday.

After hours of negotiations, Pelosi late on Monday night failed to strike a deal with the leaders of a 10-member bloc of centrists who are demanding a vote on the Senate-passed bipartisan infrastructure bill before considering a budget resolution that paves the way for a $3.5 trillion spending plan to expand social support programs and combat climate change.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced the chamber will vote at 1:15 p.m. ET, Tuesday, on the rule that will advance both the Democratic-backed budget deal and the separate $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure measure, signaling the impasse with moderates is winding down.

I think Kirsten Synema and Joey Manchin are the biggest obstacles right now.....That Synema will stick to her guns. Chucky needs to forge a deal with her instead of choosing to kick the can down the road as he usually does....

Its about the 3.5T price tag.. Drop the amount because dems don't have an actual way to pay for it. Based on what they said before, they would be ok with a 2-2.5T bill. I dont think the economy right not could sustain and added 3.5T or spending or borrowing.

Also bill still needs to be written and we have to see what the Parliamentarian says about immigration being in there.

What’s next: There is still a long road ahead before Democrats will vote on or pass a final budget resolution.

The working date to pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill is Sept. 27.

It is unlikely that the reconciliation bill, which is still in the process of being drafted through different congressional committees, will be written by then.

Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.), have publicly expressed concern over the price tag of the reconciliation bill, and their votes are critical to passage.

Because Democrats can’t spare a single member, this could mean they will need to pare down the bill before it is brought to a vote.

There’s some truth in their fear mongering, the problem i think will be with the parliamentarian. She is an independent, however, her recent decisions to deny Covid relief, increase minimum wage speaks for it self. Favors the gop, we’ll see how it goes this time. A lot of money on the table, she can’t resist.

https://cis.org/North/ExImmigration-...gration-Reform

So far the steps for this bill to pass are
1. The parliamentarian to see if immigration is added.

2. Then the house and senate vote on reconciliation package

3. Finally Biden signs the bill

The deadline for the bills are

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...on/8198252002/

1. Sept 27 is for the infrastructure bill

2. Sept 15 is for the reconciliation bill
