Just 200 officers for Chicago alone? Even if they all catch a person, for every day, it won't make a real dent. Of course each individual capture will be tragic.

However, I think it might be a silver lining for them because the prospects for this country look grim across the economic, political, and social perspectives. Already the promised lower prices have faded like so many of his promises and even this article attempts to scare people and put ICE into a good light like "now they are unleashed", but the reality is that nothing has actually changed from before.

Did they hire more agents? Did they make more detention room? Was more funding appropriated? No to all 3. Business as usual.

The country voted against immigrants. They wanted mass deportations and mass deportations are about to start. Dreamers will get caught up in these mass raids and sent to their country of origin.
Enforcers want to do away with due process anyway and will not care if you have DACA. Those Dreamers will be collateral damage. The majority of the country voted for this and support this. You could be next!

The ones that remain will be blessed by our dear president legalizing us and then you can vote republican. He secretly loves the Dreamers kids and did not run against Dreamers in this last election cycle.

They are going to make room for some of us. Some of you that wanted this DACA period to end, good or bad, are about to get what you wanted.

Like BoL mentioned in his other post, dye your hair blonde, look clean, don't frequent gas stations, and carry pesos in your pocket in case you get deported.

Green cards secured for some of us that will be lucky. And we will also have lower grocery prices too! It will be the golden age of America. Mass deportations now!

But City of Chicago will look incredibly stupid if they try to hinder ICE in any way.

You shouldn't have to carry your documents. They can find out who you are from your fingerprints, photo, SSN, and Driver's License. My DL has the exact same information and it even has the gold star. Its that whole RealID.

Have you considered that carrying your card with you might pose more risk? Getting a REAL ID can serve as confirmation of your satisfactory immigration status. If you were to lose your card while carrying it with you, you could potentially be out $600 or more.

I carry mine with me all the time together with my id, debit card, CC I use the most and a 20/50 or 100 dollar bill.

I use a card clip, it fits perfectly in my front pocket, very convenient. I like it more than than traditional wallets you carry in your butt.

So I try to avoid handing my ID to anyone. I think its meant to ensure I won't go to the ballot boxes to vote or whatever, as if everyone here immediately wants to vote. Yeah, thats going to work well for keeping under the radar. Do the most attention grabbing, lowest reward crime. :confused:

On the back under the vehicle classes I am licensed to drive it says:
RESTR: *9-NO LAWFUL STATUS. LEGAL PRESENCE EXP: [my EAD end date]

So yeah, I am not going to carry my EAD because I don't want to misplace it even though I've never actually lost a wallet.

Still sounds like they are very limited. They first have to get warrants and even if they happen to find someone else that just absorbs more resources except it does nothing for public safety. Thats the problem with the Laken Riley Bill, it will soak up resources on low level offenders. Which yeah, I get that they don't have authorization to be here, but are otherwise not a threat to the community and leaves the big problem danger to community and nation criminals free to roam as they please.

All smoke no fire. The announcement is created to cause more fear than the actual implementation. i.e. fear of something is worse than the item itself.

I wonder if the media was going to be waiting for his officers and it would've been a media disaster when they caught few if any because anyone with warrants had already left town or switched locations.

They track social media, smartphones, transactions with cards and such. Even accounts when they login to places like reddit and facebook. Probably even messages to and from phones and if not the metadata can reveal a ton.

The moves are some of 10 sweeping executive actions on border security that incoming officials say Trump plans to sign on Monday:

1. Declare a national emergency at the border: The officials said this action will allow U.S. armed forces to finish the border wall and allow the secretary of defense to deploy members of the armed forces and National Guard to the border.

2. "Clarify" the military's role in border security: This action "directs the military to prioritize our borders" and protect territorial integrity "by repelling forms of invasion, including unlawful mass migration, narcotics trafficking, human smuggling and trafficking and other criminal activities," the officials said.

3. End "catch and release," continue building the wall, and end "Remain in Mexico"

4. Designate criminal cartels as terrorists: This will allow the U.S. to more easily remove members of groups like Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organization from Venezuela, and MS-13.

5. Suspend refugee resettlement: The official said the U.S. would suspend refugee resettlement for at least four months.

6. End asylum and close the border to those without legal status via proclamation: Officials said they are planning to end asylum entirely and close the border to those without legal status via proclamation, "which creates an immediate removal process without possibility of asylum."

7. End birthright citizenship: The officials said the White House plans to end birthright citizenship, which is enshrined in the 14th Amendment. They argued the amendment does not recognize automatic birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to parents without legal status. This action is likely to see immediate legal challenges.

8. Enhance vetting and screening: The officials said they are going to "enhance vetting and screening of illegal aliens."

9. "Protect American citizens against invasion": Officials said this "equips agents and officers of ICE and CBP with the authorities" they need to deport people from the U.S.

10. Restore the death penalty: "This action in particular, directs the Attorney General to seek capital punishment for the murder of law enforcement officers and capital crimes committed by illegal aliens. It encourages state agencies and district attorneys to bring capital state charges for these crimes," the officials said

If Trump fixes DACA for everyone, it’s over for the Democrats. For the past few years, we have felt neglected as Biden and Kamala did not acknowledged our presence. Meanwhile, they provided assistance to the Venezuelans who have recently arrived. We have been overlooked.

A massive compromise is looming downtown. Its not about fixing. The program has been good. Now all is needed is a permanent solution. Immediate legalization of all dreamers and hopefully all hard working non-criminals who pass background checks. The question is, are Dems willing to abandon the dangerous organizations like UWD who don't want this to happen? UWD and Miller/Populists (Miller, Bannon etc.) will be the biggest obstacles...

This country is totally dependent on the quality and availability of migrant labor and work ethic. If Trump wants a solution, they need to create a legalization program and not just for Dreamers.

Campaign Trump is different than President Trump. I expect things to be toned down, but I could be wrong. Its too early to say what will happen just yet. Prepare plan Bs, Cs, Ds, remain optimistic.

Don't listen to anyone saying "its just fearmongering" thats the bleating of the fool. The same idiotic bleating happened during Brexit and now the UK is an unmitigated dumpster fire.
