The Senator of the Week is?
Senator Begich I saw in another thread (New cosponsors) people were targeting senators to make cosponsors. I like the idea, but I think everyone, this forum and other sites, should focus on a senator per week. Since the DREAM Act isn't really expected to come up till summer-fall, this gives up many weeks to try to focus on several senators to build support. So for this week I propose we focus on Begich. If possible in your free time call, email, and fax his office each day. (You can start this week if you want, but I wanted to collect information to use including zipcodes, etc.) I hope you guys will participate. Also questions to why Begich? 1) He is a new senator. 2) He has cosponsored CIR which means he should also cosponsor the DA. 3) He is the senator of Alaska. Not many Dreamers live in Alaska, which means he is probably getting no calls. His support is "technically" up for grabs; we shouldn't let the anti-DA groups convert him. Also: Leave any suggestions. Also: I don't really want to control this. I would love if a moderator could do this every week. I just wanted to get the ball rolling. |

Hi guys,
So the week starts today. I just wanted to throw out a suggestion. Do these three things for the next 7 days. They should take more than a few minutes each. 1. Send an email everyday with the provided contact page above. Very easy. 2. Send a fax. If you have fax machine, send as many as you can. If you don't, use the website above that allows you to send free faxes. You are allowed 2 FREE faxes a day, so please use them. That should be 14 for the week, unless you are going to send some faxes to other senators. 3. Calling! This is the most important. Please if you aren't already calling Sen. Begich, make it a priority to do so everyday. We wont be able to get him to cosponsor unless we continue to call him staff. Please use the information above to call Senator Begich. Also, when you call please post any useful information the staff may provide about what Sen. Begich will be doing in regards to the DREAM Act. Once we know he will become a cosponsor, we will move on to the next senator. You all can suggest who that senator will be. Again, thank you for participating. |
