Statement by Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas on DACA
Release Date: March 26, 2021 Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas released the following statement announcing that DHS will issue a notice of proposed rulemaking to preserve and fortify DACA: “We are taking action to preserve and fortify DACA. This is in keeping with the President’s memorandum. It is an important step, but only the passage of legislation can give full protection and a path to citizenship to the Dreamers who know the U.S. as their home.” Link: https://www.dhs.gov/news/2021/03/26/...-mayorkas-daca Aaron Reichlin-Melnick Policy Counsel at American Immigration Council says this on twitter to the announcement by Secretary Mayorkas: "Wow. A reminder that the only legal ruling against DAPA was on the failure to issue it through notice and comment rulemaking." Link: https://twitter.com/ReichlinMelnick/...07612549562374 |
