Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
The Senator from Texas has released a statement in agreement with the President that the topic of immigration should be addressed this year.

Also, he knows it will be much harder to get his Republican candidates elected if they're forced to take a position on immigration in 2010. |
Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING FROM CORNYN! This dolt pull that same trick 2 years ago. The mere sight of his name makes me ill. Do a simple google search and you realize he joined that senate working group only to slip out and join the Sessions/Vitter crowd in opposing McCain-Kennedy.
Why are some of you so naive and gullible? You read something sweet about a republican and you start frothing at the mouth, and showering them with praises. THEY DONT WANT US HERE! This sh*t started way back in 2001. You should all know who is for us, against, or worth flipping by now, and Cornyn doesn't give a flying you-know-what about us. Stop being passive constructivists. Am I the only pragmatic realist here? |
Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
...and please excuse my tone if it's too harsh. I just hate seeing us distracted by discussing people who will NEVER support any immigration effort.

You can't believe everything you read, There's to many flip-flops!!

Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
well Mugi, he said to produce a product that represents the best interests of America, including respect for the rule of law, national security and economic security
he didn't say anything in regards to represent fair laws to us, he just said a reform FOR Americans, Border security & economic security, he mentioned nothing saying "oh a fair immigration system that would benefit both Americans and immigrants" |
Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
Alex, feel free to interpret or use quotes which ever way you see fit. I'm not looking for preferential treatment, and I firmly believe comprehensive immigration reform is vital for this nation's progress, security, etc- even though I don't think now is the best time for CIR, but that's a debate for another time. My point remains: "CIR" "for Americans" "the best interest of Americans" ...it's all semantics. This man is only looking for political gain, has zero credibility on these issues, and I've tired of us giving disengenuous politicians any credence here.

Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
you misunderstood me Mugi, i actually agree with you 100% lol. i just quoted those words to further support your argument.
CIR should be addressed now, the reason for that is b/c many things are included in there, such as E-verify, border security, and many other things Americans like. if it was just "legalize these people ONLY" type of legislation, then it would be bad, but Americans want the border secured and crack down on illegal exploitation, and the CIR bill covers those things, you get what i mean? |
Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
I think that this time he actually means it, not because he cares about us, but because as the chair of the Republican Senatorial Committee he's in charge of getting Republicans elected to the senate.
He probably realizes that the only way for them to have a shot at being a national party is if they can somehow lure some latinos and asians to the GOP. I doubt they'll be able to do it (and I'll certainly be sure to remind everyone of the kind of hardship they've put us through) but that's the only option he has. |
Re: Cornyn agrees with Obama on addressing immigration reform
I sincerely hope you're right, Alex. But I always thought Agjobs & the DA could stand on their own without the negativity CIR brings- unwarranted and unfair, no less.
If I'm wrong, I'll gladly buy everyone here a round of drinks (if you happen to visit nyc). |
