Stopping Dem 60 'real hard'

Stopping Dem 60 ‘real hard,’ Cornyn fears

Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), the new head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), knows he has a difficult road ahead of him.

“That’s going to be real hard, to be honest with you,” Cornyn said of keeping Democrats from reaching 60 seats, adding:

“Everybody who runs could be the potential tipping point to get Democrats to 60. We’ve not only got to play defense; we’ve got to claw our way back in 2010. It’ll be a huge challenge.”

The question is what will the republicans/dems do knowing this?

Will Republicans reach out to the Hispanic community, and support CIR when it comes up to help rebuild their party?

Will Democrats wait for bigger majorities to tackle CIR?

I'm guessing the former, since he himself praised president Obama for talking about CIR and urged him to bring it up this year.

"I applaud President Obama’s commitment to addressing comprehensive immigration reform this year, and stand ready to work with him to produce a product that represents the best interests of America, including respect for the rule of law, national security and economic security.

“Comprehensive, common-sense immigration reform remains a top priority for me. Any legislation must protect our borders, promote economic prosperity in Texas and throughout the United States, and be consistent with our American values of compassion, family, and opportunity.”

Emphasis mine.
