Teens' detention, deportation assailed; Officials say proper procedure followed

Rios said agents with the Transportation Security Administration and the Border Patrol questioned a 16-year-old girl and two boys, ages 15 and 17, about their residency status at the trolley station before taking them into custody and sending them to Mexico later that day.

Wow, that's scary!

And why were they deported so quickly? I thought it took longer than that. They shouldn't have answered any questions, but then again, I'm sure they panicked and figured they were screwed either way.

I feel so sorry for them.

scary....
is there a certain age where minors can get deported on their own? like these kids, their parents werent with them when they got deported. what if, say, a 12 year old was walking down the street and got arrested. does he go through the removal process on his own? or does someone have to be there with him?

Actually, if ice gets a hold of you, they can deport you the same day. If you remain silent, they will still arrest you for suspicious conduct but they are force to find out who you are, if you are undocumented which buys you time to contact a lawyer and family members and fight back.

It is good to know your rights in case the unthinkable happens.

At least I'm not like some people around here that think just because they got a free education they're better than some paisa cutting yards.
