Obama delay on immigration complicates health reform

Quote:

Obama has said he does not support extending health care benefits to illegal immigrants. But an estimated 59 percent of the nation's nearly 12 million illegal immigrants lack health insurance, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

However, if you have comprehensive immigration reform, you have an expanded legalization program, which may then include them in the pool that is eligible for health care.

That's what I was thinking. This prioritizing sequence is going to cause some friction once health care is done and CIR gets tackled.

This is an interesting article, I didn't even think of looking it the way this article does about Democrats being smart to delay CIR so that Republicans can continue to have low support from the Hispanic community.

This whole partisan power grabbing is just disturbing and what makes it more disturbing to me, is that these are old folks and should know to behave more mature. The Republicans need to get over the fact that they lost so much power in the last elections and start doing what they were voted in for. The longer they continue to shy away from the bi-partisan talks the longer their party will continue to loose support.
