That sucks, they can't even afford the $500 to file it. Can they extend this visas later or turn them into permanent residency?

I'd love to get temporary status for for such a small fee.

They can extend the work permit only if the government decides to extend the TPS. If they don't you are put in removal proceedings, trust me i know the drill lol.

well, i would say you can make some decent money in 18 months, specially by Haitian's standards

sometimes even worst cause you have to spend so much money on attorneys and other stuff. Plus you always have to wonder if they are going to give you the work permit or not.

Cristian... in 18 months you can't make decent money at least not with a work permit. Most of the jobs that you can get are minimum wage jobs. If you try to apply to good paying jobs they shun on you due to the fact that they know you can have your status taken away at any time. The best paying job that i have had has been getting 17/h and that is tutoring for a private company and i am considered a private contractor.
