Letter to Harry Mitchell
I am a faculty member at a community college in Maricopa County. Policy does not permit me to say where I work because I support the DREAM Act. Administration says it is a political issue. I say it is a human rights issue.
This nation has raised an entire generation of Anne and Andy Franks. I am deeply disappointed that you do not support this important bipartisan legislation. The DREAM Act is a rare opportunity to include a gifted generation among our nation's assets. Our students are not undocumented. We, their teachers, have honorably documented their perfect attendance, creativity, scholarship, hard work and volunteerism. I would proudly testify for any of my DREAMers. They have always raised the academic standard in my classroom. There is nothing more important to me than protecting these gifted and deserving young Americans. Your lack of support for these special students makes me sad and unable to support you. Please reconsider. Support and protect this valuable American resource. With hope and a prayer, Laurita Moore Faculty and DREAM Act Advocate PS. Hector and Genie Zavaleta, long time DREAM Act advocates, had always spoken highly of you. I was surprised and very disappointed to learn that you are not a supporter. |
Re: Letter to Harry Mitchell
Thank you for your support Laurita. You have a very strong message that could reach out not only to Rep. Mitchell, but to other law makers as well.
Thank you for sharing it. |
