Writting to the President

I have taken the Time to write to the President even though he receives thousands of emails everyday but i think that if we all write maybe the Administration will hear out voices, i don't know if there is something similar going on but this is what i wrote to him.

Dear Mr. President,

Recently you have been promoting education through the No Child Left Behind education act in which you encourage Americans to continue into a higher education after high school. About two point eight million Americans will graduate high school every year and some of these Americans will continue to college while other would enlist in the armed forces. Out of those millions of students a group of sixty-five thousand students do not have the opportunity to go to college because they are undocumented and they do not have the necessary tools and opportunities to further their education. Some of these students do better in school than other Americans who do not take advantage of the opportunities given by the government. I encourage you to support The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act (The “DREAM Act”). This proposition will allow undocumented students who entered the United States as children and graduated from a US high school the opportunity to study and obtain residency. You should insist congress to approve a bill that would allow undocumented students the opportunity to study, work, and give back to this country. Everyone living in The United States of America should deserve the right to a higher education.

Is not the best but it explains the whole purpose of the DA.

Okay it says that it's required to put your full name and address. Yeah um remember we're undocumented. What if they come searching for us or something. I want to write Mr. Obama a letter too but I'm scared we might get caught or something. Did you guys put your address or should I not worry about it?

You don't have to put your address. Just put your e-mail address. And, that is totally ABSURD to think that they will come searching for you. That would never happen in a million years..

Well I went to a site that showed how to write to your congressman or local legislator and it said that if I wanted a response, then I should put my address and full and name. Just saying.

i think that it is against the law to come after you, they can't do that and they cannot ask for status either

Yeah that's true, but I sort of need help on how to approach the issue. Of course I'm not going to tell him I'm undocumented right? By the way, people have been posting news that don't really give me any new information, other than Schumer and Graham "proposing" the bill. Does anyone have like actual good or bad news?

Here is an article about how writing a letter can have a big impact.

You could easily not give your whole name or your address, if you weren't worried about getting a (personal) response. I research in some presidential archives of letters, and there are lots in there that got read by someone but didn't have an address or a name. Writing the president is really not going to get you in trouble, but if you are worried, you could do this.

OK so I'm going to write to him. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just put my initials and hope that I get a response. I know I'm asking way too many questions but how would I send it to him. Do I send it Washington, or...? I'm a noob at this stuff so forgive me for being 16 lol

it would like get there if you just put enough stamps and "President Obama" on it, but....

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Av NW
Washington, DC 20006

should do the trick. I think it would be cool if folks posted their letters on this thread. I am working on one that I could share, I'm an (only) an ally, but its a letter all the same.
