Democrats debate what’s next - The Hill
Immigration Reform - Yes? No? In the future? WHAT???
And why do I have a feeling that time will run out AFTER what they choose to debate next? Quote:

And just like that - we have our answer.
Financial Overhaul Is Next Priority of Democrats http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/25/bu...5regulate.html |
Re: Democrats debate what’s next - The Hill
I'm not feeling all this negativity. First, it's not gonna happen over night.. lets get that through everyones thick head. : ) Second, Obama said it his one of his top priorities. Ok, so what more do you people want? These sorts of things take time! We should all be thankful they are even considering legalizing us as part of CIR. So sit back and relax yourselves people. Well don't relax yourselves completely.. Do go out there and let your voices be heard.. But don't go demanding change... things WILL change.. just be patient. Thank you very much. Have a nice day.

Seriously, what the fuck are you saying? I'm sorry but the crap you just posted boils my blood.

Aside from that, saying "tomorrow, tomorrow" isn't the way to go. Everyday people grow older and we have shit we want to do with our lives. Finishing undergraduate school and then finishing medical school will take an assload of time and I'm not going to wait another year lounging because I can't afford school anymore for them to sway our hearts with words once again. Perhaps you were the type of student who just procrastinated all day, but some of us have agendas to fulfill. What exactly is it that you do anyways? I know damn well that what I plan to do requires me to demand this shit to pass. Quote:
In relation to your statement, do you believe that our condition is fine because there are 3rd world countries with worser conditions? Quite frankly that kind of mentality is fucking pathetic. Every human being deserves basic rights and practically the right to function in society is a basic human right. What makes one member of this species more privileged than another that only they can function in society? However, according to you we should be begging these people for this right. Sorry but fuck you. I demand something so basic to a human beings' function in society to be granted. I will not be complacent to the point where I'm satisfied with simply being a political pawn for these politicians. I will not degrade myself to the level of a lapdog by comparing myself to those with worser conditions simply to give myself hope and self-comfort. Lastly, I will not be glad simply because they are considering us in the CIR. Quote:
Sorry for all the cursing, but this kind of apathetic bullshit calls for some internet tough bitch attitude. Thank you. ----- Edit: Feel free to delete this post. I'm pissed, and it's probably inappropriate for little children. |
Re: Democrats debate what’s next - The Hill
“We’ll never have a better majority in your presidency in numbers than we’ve got right now,” Pelosi told the president, according to The New York Times.
Exactly, so leave immigration to what f***ing future?? The one in which the Senate has a Republican majority? Then why the hell should we pay attention to the theatre from Gutierrez and the "March for America" organizers and on and on it goes as the purpose is to get legislation soon? Gutierrez, Reid, Schumer and others all said for months that if legislation doesn't get voted by April, then no one knows when it may happen. The only people who think waiting is ok in this forum and who enjoy the highs and lows of being taken for a ride continously are obviously ones who aren't responsible for themselves, someone else is providing a roof over their head and food on the table, don't work and aren't worried about getting jobs right now - even though most everyone here IS an adult over age 18. |

I believe what she meant was that the people that thought that with the HCR bill from the House being signed yesterday, we can't expect that CIR should have been introduced today. Obama still has a fight on his hands with HCR in the Senate and states have filed lawsuits questioning the constitutionality of the law based on states' rights mumbo jumbo. HCR was and is Obama's baby. He's still got to convince 50% of the country that HCR was a necessary thing and is good law. With one major hurdle jumped, the American people are expecting him to focus on getting the economy back on track and creating more jobs because no matter what he's done so far, the unemployment rate is still astronomical. So, she's right about what she said. This isn't going to happen overnight. And we've got to keep the pressure on Congress that CIR/DA is an issue that is necessary for this country now...not five years from now, but now. |

As you said, we have to keep this pressure up, and the mentality such as the one that outraged me won't pressure anyone. If we're going to start preaching complacency, we might as well start preaching inactivity. To be honest, sometimes I feel that this movement is lacking a charismatic leader from the bottom who can spearhead the movement into true, righteous action (as opposed to the Civil Rights movement decades ago). All in all, my discontent with the hef107's post isn't channeled towards the Obama administration but more towards some Dreamers who sometimes don't seem to care (keyword: seem). Of course, this is totally an unfair judgement, and I have zero credibility; however, I know someone personally in a similar situation and he's content with working at a video rental store for the rest of his life. What the hell! Quote:

Re: Democrats debate what’s next - The Hill
I think chemicals is just having a bad day. And hey, if hef107 can vent her opinion about us "being glad for what we have", (which I honestly don't even get how someone could say that, because really wtf do we have? other than the constant fear of getting deported?) then I think withchemicals should be able to post his thoughts equally. Granted that he obviously did blow up there lol I still think that it's just an opposing opinion imo.
I think we should restrain ourselves from going bananas though... Most of us are already at the tip of sanity, we can't let the pressure break us this late in the game. Because if we do, we'll just end up doing stupid shit out there that ain't going to help any of us (i.e. riots, crimes, etc.). So just try to relax and be constructive in these forums out here, not just this one, all of them; because we're not the only ones who read these comments. There's a lot of alipac and antis looking for quotes from us to feed the flame of hatred. We have to show them we're better than them. At the very least, we have to shift that flame we have inside, towards advocating and speaking with our friends about the issue with the same passion we use to speak within these forums. I'm no exemplary when it comes to advocacy but I've spoken to every friend I have about the DREAM Act and I managed to bring 3 USC with me to the march. We got to spread the word to Americans that will back us up on the issue. That's the only way we'll ever win this. |
