Immigration reform effort is very much alive says Senator Charles Schumer

Schumer also said that the bill would create a new tamper-proof ID card. "Think of it as a security card with your picture," he said.
Schumer revealed that immigrants would be eligible for green cards within as little as three months if the bill became law.
Schumer's bill would replace the current family-based immigration system with one that awards points to prospective immigrants based on skills.

What does this donkey mean when he says:

"bill would replace the current family-based immigration system with one that awards points to prospective immigrants based on skills. "

I understand creating a points system like in Canada, BUT would that mean that he will eliminate family sponsorship petitions??.. hes saying that you can't bring your spouse anymore? or your parents?...

the reason I'm asking is because I wonder that when they do deport my ass out of here, I wanna know if my fiance could still try and bring me back after a while. (?)

this guy is dangerous

"A measure unveiled last month by Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, and Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, aims to reshape the legal system to give priority to high-skilled, high-earning immigrants, offering narrower channels for low-wage workers." - New York Times :Work Force Fueled by Highly Skilled Immigrants

"We need Republican support on this," he said. "We don't want Lindsey Graham out there on his own."
Democrats are so full of shit: They didn't needed a single co-sponsor for healthcare now that they found one republican, they want another one.

Back in 2007 the advocates refused to support the deal on the table. Ther was a story where they said "mejor que no pase" (better that it doesn't pass) because of the petition program. I say do it. See, at least people wil be able to work and drive and not be in fear. They then be able to go back and forward and send more money. Maybe even pay for college so they cna get more points.

and if the system really sucks, you can always change it or make modifications. and if not, at least people would be getting legal status and eventually become citizens. many of those complaining back in 2007 have bene deported or left because they had no other choice. others are being exploited and living in fear. and some of you here might be out of college and working.

just keep your eye on the ball and remember we are not in charge or on a position to demand too much.

Thats a big change if the family-based sponsonship is gone. Canada has both systems.
As little as 3 months is sweet for people who don't qualify for DREAM Act.

Just to be safe that it passes. We already have another Rep (Gregg) and also Scott Brown is interested.

They need at least a handful of Republicans for immigration reform.
