This gave me chills when reading and actually made me register here today (been reading constantly for the past months now). Really surprising and scary how much this relates to my situation, very sad as well :(

Yeah, it's very sad but our immigration situation usually takes the biggest psychological toll on people in the 17-20 year old range. At that age perceptions matter the most and people get too involved in them.

I remember myself at that age years ago, and what really made me angry, which is also really ironic, isn't the fact that I had it bad, because I didn't ( frankly unless you have to worry about a place to sleep and/or how to put food on the table you don't really have it bad) but the fact that everyone around me was doing so damn well with their driver licenses, new cars, school loans, spring break trips and whatever else they could do that I didn't. Things like that take their toll on kids' psyche and it's just really sad.

Just think about it guys... how many of us have had dreams about being able to drive a car? I would say most of us....and then think about how ridiculous that actually is.

Too bad he can't get his Darwin award now. If I were him I would have just left the country. The cool thing about life is knowing that just as things get shitty they can also get really fun and the best thing is that we are responsible for those choices. This kid was a wuss for not wanting to face life and work 3 times as hard to accomplish his goals. Before any of you think of becoming an hero because of being illegal I suggest you go back to your countries and experience that freedom you are looking for.

I sort of agree.
