Re: Durbin: Immigration bill 'unlikely' in '10
HAHA it was dream 01, 03, 07 blah blah 09, CIR 10 (whatever the years). Now we move on to 11, soon to be 12 then 13 and so on, beautiful.
Anyone with persuasive power ie: Gutierrez, Reid, Durbin ... needs to bring up the idea of small piece meal action such as DREAM this year. It will be a battle but it will secure their immigrant votes for any parties who do vote on the issue, it will highlight the right wing as baby haters and then create a possible opportunity for CIR in the future cause as of right now there's no way in hell its happening next year either. The climate is to crazy. Climate legislation (haha) it will pass after almost a year of debate cause the republicans can drag that shit on for decades especially with that turn coat Graham who for some reasons the Dem. seem to love so much. (Obama has also said that there's no way offshore drilling will be considered after this recent calamity, HAHA how does he plan on securing right wing votes? Might as well just take on immigration at least you can secure a border). Our best hope is that these tea baggers become king makers and that the democrats pull through but they really need to rally immigrant votes all across the board of every color and nation. This is just common sense logistics and this is legislation with moral value and no political affiliation attached. (oh wait that's what Obama thinks Cagen represents right?) And this whole fine thing that maybe Dreamies should pay (someone mentioned in other post), i say go for it. Dreamies should start a fund to help other dreamies pay it. I'm more then willing to donate something out of every paycheck until every one of us gets a chance, at life before death. BTW our best republican bet is McCain, we just have to get that man to realize his time is over and that his last vote needs to be a good one. Other options are fellow retiring GOP members but we need Dream to hit the floor running and we need Obama to finally grasp an issue aside from health care by the horns and drag it to the finish line. Obama needs to get of his high horse about bi-partisanship and transparency, his little school yard lesson hes trying to teach will end once the votes come in and hes no longer carrying the biggest stick in the yard. (thus everything the Dem. stand for is ****ed) And yet i still like the guy hes just useless, and I'm starting to think he works on a prayer instead of strategy. |

Hello Dear Friend, Do you think you can summarize what you just wrote into fewer sentences? |

Cornyn just pisses me off, he is not doing anything to help push for CIR this year either. If he doesn't want to work on things piecemeal, then why did he introduce a stand alone border security bill just a few weeks ago? |
Re: Durbin: Immigration bill 'unlikely' in '10
If things keep going the way they are I might as well pack my bags. I don't mean to be impatient but all I keep hearing are promises and no actions. "Change we can believe in" my ass. I've marched, sent out letters, called and still nothing. It's perfectly understandable for politicians to be playing politics especially as they near midterm elections and they want to get their votes. But it is really frustrating to hear things like that especially from Durbin. I'v sent out applications for schools out of the country in case anything happens as much as I do not want to leave. God only knows.
