Take Action: 10,000 DREAM Act Calls Today
 

I got an e-mail from the Dream Activist, below is the e-mail. Guys please lets make the phone calls every day. I made some calls today. If 2,000 people make 5 calls a day thats 10,000 calls. So please eveybody try to call 5 times or more each day. Make it your daily homework. We can't give up, especially when we are so close to OUR DREAM. I made the calls today and took not even a minute to make one call. Whats 5 or 10 minutes of our lives spent on calling ...? If we do this we can have real Freedom after the Dream Act passes.... Don't we so call live in a "Free Country" then lets show the world that we young adults aren't free! We are prisoners of this country, we are being held back from breaking free and achieving great things! Lets fight even if we sweat blood, and our knees are bloody we are fighters!



Yep, that's right. Today you are going to help make 10,000 calls for the DREAM Act. Each call you make takes us one step closer to a YES vote on the DREAM Act.
If this is the first time you are going to call then just take a deep breath, it is really no sweat at all. Each call you make will last as little as 30 seconds. Dial 1-888-254-5087 and say: "Hi, I am calling to ask that the senator support the DREAM Act when it goes up for a vote next week. Thank you."

P.S. Yesterday California made more calls than any other state (actually than a few states combined!), think your state can beat them?

I made calls yesterday but I kinda cheated. I called when the offices were closed and I just left messages lol

A lot of the voicemails where full

I don't call too much when their offices are closed, especially now, because I dont think they check all those voicemails.

I think we should call during the day the most and night as well just fill their answering machines. so when they do check, all they get is US calling.

So, I was thinking maybe we can email like Opera or Ellen Degeneres. We need this to go BIG huge like, everywhere we look or anything we hear is the Dream Act. I was also thinking of calling Ryan Seacrest (from kiss fm) during his show and just bringing it up. I'm sure he would do it as a topic maybe for 5 min. As long as we get the most important info about the Dream act on air would be the best. We need to show people that we are not criminals.

That would be great!!! lets all send The Oprah Show emails. We only have a couple days!

As far as I know, the Oprah show tries to steer clear of political issues. She has a diverse audience and it would compromise the program. Her endorsement of Obama was already cutting it close. It would probably be more realistic that she would do a segment on the DREAM act *after* it was passed and she would interview former DREAMers or something (assuming her show was still on the air by then).

The Rachel Maddow show would be a more appropriate outlet to raise awareness on the issue.

The email for rachel maddow is [email protected]. Can't hurt to try. Also, keep calling! On Thursday there were over 10,000 phone calls made, the goal for today is 15,000. If you get an answering machine, leave a message so that there won't be room for any anti-immigrant messages on the machine.

How do you know there were 10,000 phone calls made? Did you ask the representatives when you spoke to them? Hope they were all of OUR calls though! :]
