Do you know how many calls you guys made this week to urge Congress to pass the DREAM Act?

Wanna take a guess? OK, you give up?

Over 160,000 phone calls. You heard me, over one-hundred sixty thousand. That’s a lot of calls. Between 5:30pm on Wednesday and 5:30pm on Thursday, you guys made a mind-blowing 77,773 calls.

And guess what else?

It’s working! On Wednesday, we won a historic victory when the House of Representatives passed the DREAM Act. Eight brave Republican Congressmen stood with us to bring our movement one step closer to justice.

Says Marissa Graciosa, of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement:

We look forward to another week of flooding the Senate with calls. Now that the House fight is over, we can direct this intense energy onto a single target, the better to make our power felt. Our message is simple: the DREAM Act would give tens of thousands of deserving young people a chance to fully and freely contribute to the well being of our country through their educational pursuits or military service. And senators have a clear choice. They can vote for the DREAM Act and show they care about our children; or they can vote against and show they value politics over our children and our country.

There’s no room for excuses. We’ve been waiting for this for more than 10 years. This is the time. Our kids’ futures can’t wait.

So, can we make 160,000 calls look like chump change? I think we can. Make your call. Then ask your friends to do the same. And your mom. And your grandma. And your uncle. And your neighbor. And your mail-lady. And your coworkers.
