Virginia State Legislature To Consider Bill That Would Ban Undocumented Immigrants
 

Virginia's Republican-controlled State Legislature is slated to consider a piece of legislation this session that would prohibit undocumented immigrants from attending public colleges or universities in the commonwealth.

The bill, set to be introduced by GOP Del. Christopher Peace, is just the latest attempt by Virginia Republicans to block undocumented individuals from enrolling in state-funded institutes of higher learning. Earlier versions of the legislation, which also included strict immigration enforcement language, were rejected in previous sessions.

The Associated Press reports on the current state of affairs in Virginia regarding permissions of undocumented immigrants to attend state colleges and universities:

Federal law prohibits such people from paying in-state tuition at colleges and universities, but they can still pursue a public college education. Virginia's public universities currently have the discretion to decide whether to admit illegal aliens as long as they charge out-of-state tuition.

The proposal comes as the state's Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell is set to kick off the 2011 legislative session with an address to the legislature Wednesday, in which he expected to renew a commitment to combatting illegal immigration in Virginia.

This like I said weeks ago and had someone argue with that it was not what was going to happen but now of course your seeing States are broke they are not getting any federal money like there suppose everyone of these states you seeing making immigration laws is because they are billions of dollars in deficit and cant pay for anymore benefits for illegal immigrants. Except for California who will be the first state to be bankrupt literally since a crisis in New York is 1972. But this time the Federal Government has no more money to bail them out. This is not an illegal only deal total americans who are welfare and food stamps will cut down as well. The economy will have more of affect on immigration and immigration reform than anything about politicians.

this is bullshit because we cant go to a virginia university, college or communtiy college anyway!!!...i just tried....they definately require paperwork..........anyone that lives in virginia i encourage them to go to maryland....you will have to pay out of state but it will be something

Man, this is bad. I live in Maryland and was hoping that Virginia took the same stance we took on immigration. When the elections swing around again, those people need to get thrown out and replaced with people who are pro-immigration reform. (in favor of it)

I seriously hope Obama and Democrats start pushing for immigration reform immediately after the State of the Union Address or as soon as possible. I know for sure this anti-immigrant bill won't pass. But, Obama really meeds to start working on CIR NOW!!!
