UTAH Lawmakers debate controversial immigration bill
 

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah lawmakers are expected to make some new progress on the debate over immigration. They’re anticipated to debate a controversial new bill.

What's being a called “a comprehensive immigration bill” is expected to make it into its first hearing Tuesday afternoon. The bill combines ideas from several other immigration legislations dealing with illegal immigration enforcement, and guest worker cards, etc., but it's not exactly going over smoothly.

Yesterday, Representative Stephen Sandstrom and other house members came out against the bill. They claim some of the ideas came from their bills. Sandstrom, who's known for his own controversial bill, and some of his colleagues prefer a tougher approach then what they claim is included in the comprehensive idea. They want one with more emphasis on law enforcement.

But Senate leaders behind the bill claim there's still plenty of time to iron out their differences.

"It is not our intention to hijack house bills and turn them into our bills. But it is our intention to produce a good product," said Rep. Scott Jenkins, (R) Majority Leader.

Either these lawmakers know the differenct between ILLEGAL and LEGAL or not. Should be an easy decision as they are eating all their free food provided for them by special interest groups as those same lawmakers continue to pocket the per diem they receive daily for out of pocket expenses on food. OH ya, right, they don't know the difference between ILLEGAL and LEGAL or unethical and ethical behaviors....they believe they are all entitled and above the law.

Comprehensive? What about the living people running their economy by picking vegetables in brutal weather? This issue is like a cancer spreading across the nation. They had a chance to treat it using a federal CIR.

I don't think this is going to last. This is obviously not going to solve the problem. Libya, the economy, Winsconsin, the budget cuts, the cartel, Charlie Sheen.... is whats keeping the lime light off the immigration issue. Hopefully with the Calderon visit will Obama finally be able to bring it up, but then again who knows.
