Obama playing games with immigration

This week, President Obama -- who has already declared that he is running for re-election -- kicked off his 2012 Latino outreach effort by traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border at El Paso, Texas, and delivering a speech on immigration.

This wasn't easy. Finding the border can be tricky when it is your first visit in the 26 months since becoming president.

Besides, immigration isn't Obama's favorite topic. You remember that subject in high school that you hated, because, well, you had no interest in it and so you weren't good at it?

For Barack Obama, that subject is immigration. He's terrible at it. He doesn't seem to understand it. And he doesn't appear to care about it. So he settles for using it as a political tool.

There is a sizable community of immigrants -- legal and illegal -- in Illinois. Yet, during his stint in the state Senate, Obama demonstrated little interest in the issue and proposed no bills specifically aimed at immigrants.

When Obama ascended to the U.S. Senate, he voted for a so-called "poison pill" amendment to a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would "sunset" a proposed guest worker program after five years. All of this was to please organized labor, but it doomed the compromise.

I disagree with this article. To make laws, you first have to convince the people they need them. The majority of Americans disagree with having an "amnesty" which is probably what they're going to call it. Speaking and discussing the issue only makes it a worthy cause.

You know what since when is the word amnesty such a bad word? I say we need to start turning the word around... I support amnesty and immigration reform.

The article is about Obama playing politics with immigration.
Dream Act & CIR need republican votes to pass congress. Do you really believe that republicans are going to support a democrat proposal just before presidential elections?

This article actually makes lot of sense of how Obama keeps playing the Hispanic community and insulting these people intelligence.
Yes it’s important to talk about the issue but Obama’s speech was TWO YEARS late.
Why? Because his concern is not to solve the immigration problem but rather get the Latino vote. Playing with people hopes is a mean spirit approach no better than republicans mean spirit rhetoric.

You'd be complaining if they didn't do anything at all too.

Other than insulting hispanics intelligence that's exactly what they are doing. NOTHING.
Obamas speech wasn't really about CIR or Dream Act, it was about his reeleccion, his is selling his high numbers on deportations for the immigration hardliners and empty promises to hispanics.

Fool me once shame on you......fool me twice shame on me.

Obama can go fuck himself. The American people, and myself, were stupid enough to think that he could make changes to our society. Yes, it's difficult to do it by himself, but he hasn't shown much leadership. Like my family always says, "necesita amararse de los huevos".!
