Open for Questions with President Obama

Re: Open for Questions with President Obama
On one hand, his argument pisses me off for obvious reasons. On the other, he makes a valid point. The only real solution for DREAMers is for Congress to pass the DREAM Act. The best we can hope for until then is for the President to ensure that those administrative priorities he claims are being implemented actually take effect. We can't get him to give us status automatically, but we can pressure him to do so if we get into proceedings.

I mean seriously guys, in his defense, what the hell do you want him to do? He isn't a Senator anymore. He has other issues to deal with on a daily basis which actually have a chance of passing. I say give him a break on this.

if he really wanted reform, he'd do it. look at the healthcare, DADT, and funding bills. very strong GOP opposition, but they somehow 'managed' to get it done.

Re: Open for Questions with President Obama
He needs to pressure congress himself, he could send his own proposal just like he did with Health Care, issue here is that CIR and Dream always gets put on the back burner and on the front burner when elections are close, such as when Reid brought dream to the Senate floor, many say it was to save his own skin from loosing his seat, SIGH, hope the increased pressure on Obama and Congress bears fruits in the coming years !!!!!!

So what should he try that he hasn't done yet, use harsh language. As much as I hate to say it, it got 55 votes last time with a Senate that had 60 democrats at one point. They are down to what, 53 democrats now? I don't even think that it would get to a simple majority of 51 without the filibuster now, and it needs 60. I know that's not what anyone wants to hear of course.

Obama's not at the point of being able to do that. The budget debate radicalized everything beyond all measure. Republicans stuck to their guns like immature teenagers, while Democrats pansied out like irresponsible parents.
