Sen. Marco Rubio: DREAM Act alternative coming soon.

Quote:

Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), the only Senate Republican of Hispanic heritage and a possible vice presidential pick, is working on an alternative version of the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, which would grant legal status to illegal immigrants who came to the country at a young age and serve in the military or attend college.

He declined to provide any details, but confirmed he hopes to have legislation soon.

Rubio's trying so hard to be VP. Too bad they'll lose in November either way.

It should be interesting to see how the Durbin vs. Republican dream act plays out come summer. If a republican supported bill passes the senate, the house may just approve it.

It's so sad these types of threads don't excite me anymore. This new bill would disqualify 80% of DAP lol. Well atleast we can now confirm Rubio will be Romney's running mate.

Same here. :|

It's almost like a game to them. Whoever comes up with a bill that helps the least amount of DREAMers wins.

Really if I was Obama, I would take this as a huge threat because they're trying very hard to steal major voting bloc. I'd start strategizing how to deliver a knock out punch so they can't get back up by passing DA this year. But I really don't know how he would do go about doing that? I'm sure there must be some way!

I agree with you. President Obama needs to take it seriously, but that really depends on what Rubio comes up with.

“I’m going to do everything in my power to stop a watered-down version of the DREAM Act,” he said. “That’s what they’re pushing now.” Harry Reid

^and the worst part about it is that, that's all they do. They introduce a bill and it gets stuck there.. They wont do shit after that....

I remember a wise post from someone on here in the past which claimed as each election nears, we will be summoned by our masters to assist them win their respective races. This is exactly the case right now.

There are people that genuinely want to help us, but for the most part, this is definitely the truth.

Quote:

“There’s definitely a buzz among Republicans to curry favor with Latino voters, but they want to do it in a way that their base doesn’t notice or get offended by,” said Angela Kelley, vice president of immigration policy at the Center for American Progress. “They’re floating a lot of test balloons. What they seem to be wanting to do is limit the scope of who’s covered and not offer citizenship.”
So, the Republicans would love to legalize us on the low and hope the racist members of their base don't notice? I don't see how that's going to happen with morons like Kobach and Lamar Smith screaming the loudest for self-deportation, etc.
