He might be a hero more than a tool. Right now, i have more hopes for him than the Democrats.

Let me be our voice of reason. Self-appointed voice of reason isn't always a good idea, but I'm not controlled by politics nor do I have to appease anyone with my word choice. I don't think we should be judging Rubio. He really can't by himself help us like we want to be helped. And his allies haven't been know to make life easier for us either. So if you're expecting a solution that saves us, you will be disappointed. It will be a solution though I guarantee you that, but do not be fooled by your desperate notions that all will be well with a visa. It won't be, not by a long shot. This alternative can only be a plot to make it harder for us in the future, and if it passes ahead of the original we can kiss any future salvation goodbye. Why? You might ask. Well after they gave us one solution do you really think they're gonna give us another? If so, you're bigger dreamers than I ever imagined. And if you think getting married will put you on the fast track to citizenship, first figure out how that process works, and then imagine almost all of us attempting it. The reason a visa won't help us is because the immigration system is broken. If we let them toss us into that system surely most of us will be in jeopardy once again. We can't settle for that. And the cherry to top it off... Rubio admits that the immigration system is broken. Why do you think he wants it to handle us? Two birds with one stone I suppose. But that is just a conspiracy theory I came up with. In reality the bill may help us, but from the looks of it we will be hung out to dry. But it should serve as a back up plan. We are all looking for a hero, but I have never heard of a political hero so don't hold your breath. First of all Rubio was against the original DREAM act. Who do you think he is trying to appease? Definitely not us. They have under the table motives, and so do the democrats, but at least the democrats our for the original DREAM act. Which is a bi partisan bill. People have to be reminded of that. So stay positive and hopeful for the DREAM act. I know it may seem pessimistic of me to rant on about the negative sides to Rubio's proposal, but I can't let you guys draw to conclusions before the bill is even out. I am still open-minded. I suggest you open yours to all of the possibilities and think about the big picture. A solution for today is not a solution for tomorrow. Hopefully this last little phrase will put that into perspective... "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime." Ask yourself "Do you want to be legal for 4 years, 4 more years in some of the more fortunate cases, or do you want a chance to be a U.S. citizen?" I know my answer. |
