Trying to Raise Awareness in My College
Hi everyone-
I'm a student at UNLV here in Las Vegas. We have been given the opportunity to make a persuasive speech to our fellow honors students and I chose to do mine in advocacy of the DREAM Act. I would like to get your opinion of some of the most important points to discuss that will really motivate my fellow students to get involved. Any advice or direction is much appreciated! |

Re: Trying to Raise Awareness in My College
You could tell them that DREAMers are diverse, racially and otherwise.
They are males and females. They come from every part of the world: South America, North America (Mexico and Canada), Africa (all regions), Europe, Asia (Middle East, southwest and the popular places). They are mothers and fathers and students and workers. They work and go to school or work and care for their loved ones. They are overstays and EWIs (Entered Without Inspection). They are valedictorians, salutatorians, in the top 1%, or graduated summa cum laude. They are educated with advanced degrees yet working minimum wage jobs. They call America home. They are well-versed in the law and they are dedicated and persistent. All they want is a chance to prove their worth and contribute equally to the society that has trained them. |

Thank you guys so much! I hope these replies keep coming, I really want to make sure this speech has the influence of a community rather than just the facts.
