CIR outcome through mathematical analysis
 

For those of us who are intrigued by what mathematics have to say about CIR. Here's a mathematical analysis paired with political science theory that could help determine the outcome of CIR.

The purpose of the CIR 2013 blog is to provide researchers and the public with analyses that speak directly to the question of whether comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) will pass in 2013. These analyses will use social science research methods to answer practical, policy-relevant questions. One of the focuses of the blog will be to identify likely support and opposition to an immigration reform bill, as well amendments that are likely to be introduced, for all 535 voting members of Congress. With that said, all of the standard social science caveats apply. A model is only as good as its assumptions and the quality of data. Moreover, the thickness of the "noise" - especially when the immigration debate reaches a fevered pitch - may be too much to cut through. This does not, however, mean that theoretically informed analysis of current policy-related questions is not possible. Combining the insights gained from these analyses with "on the ground" developments is, perhaps, the optimal way to make sense of the politics of immigration reform in 2013. We thus invite comments and suggestions, particularly from migration scholars and those working on immigration reform.

Well I will read this analysis when I get a free chance later this evening but they just need to pass this thing for the families man. Rewind back over a year and see how desperate we were and how we felt being undocumented. Now imagine how our Parents/Families must be feeling and feel right now. My parents for one have absolutely no personal lives. All they do is work and home. Movement is completely restricted. Can't drive. Can't start a new business. Can't travel abroad to go see their families. God knows when this reform will pass and when it will be implemented and when they'll be approved. This is a tragedy.

Agree, the agony of living under the shadows is really unbearable. especially when years accumulate to decades and decades continue to add much more uncertainty. Is it right to do a step-by-step approach? hard to tell to be honest. But the way I see is that some resolution (at least for dreamers) right now will open the door in the future for more legislation to take place. We have seen such methods being used previously. Such was the case in the 50"s when the civil right movement took place. Politicians didn't give the store away but opened up enough for larger movements to come in and bring about social change. I wouldn't mind that same process with our contemporary issues.

A tragedy? wut?

Man, i've been here since the age of 10 and never did any of what you said stopped me from doing what i wanted to do. My parents were able to do whatever they wanted to do also. We've opened businesses before too. Yeah not having a drivers license sucks but you get up to fight again. You're talking like the majority of undocumented people.. scared and in the shadows, if you feel part of this country then go out there and enjoy life. if CIR does not pass, what will your parents do? Go back to their countries? Don't make this seem like its their fault dude.
