He was cocky and nonchalant, I felt he was insincere about CIR being his next priority. And to say, 'we have time', really? While you keep deporting people and bankrupting them by prosecuting them and forcing them to forge thousands of dollars just to see if they can buy themselves more time while you 'have the time' to pass CIR?

Oh, and I love the last bit, where he tells everyone else to do the work, but he himself doesn't offer anything new. Remember all the meetings and calls with Boehner during the shutdown? He has had 0 regarding CIR. That whole speech was full of OFA talking lines which all of you can read on Twitter any time, any day.

So much anger. I think you should give back your DACA, work permit, driver's license, and basic human dignity that you got thanks to this president.

1. People who got deported were mostly criminals who were arrested or prosecuted for something else. They deserved it. They can be criminals in their own country and give us a bad name. Work site raids are very rare now days unless there is something specific about them.

2. You realize that he's he president of the US and was voted in by citizens, don't you? In that regard, the government shut down was a bigger priority than dealing with 12 million illegals who shouldn't even be here in the first place, myself included.

Once you're president, you can decide what to set your agenda to but he's the president and you're not. Healthcare was his biggest priority and it was his right so that got done first. More people are without healthcare than there are illegals here so that was his call.

3. And yes, he's telling others to do the work because he has already said he would sign the damn bill, the senate has passed the damn bill, so it's not much he can do to convince republicans other than try to pressure them.

This is what pisses me off about some of you ungrateful children here. You just feel entitled to everything and bite the hand that feeds you.

IamAman, I agree with you on 99% of the points. However, please keep in mind that he was also voted in by people who bought into his promise of acting on immigration during his inaugural year (2008 ). Instead, he was busy forcing Obamacare (not that I disagree with the bill) down everyone's throat thus effectively killed any chance for the immigration talk during his first term. Resentment towards Obamacare still haunts us even to this day. We can all agree that DACA happened was 50% (at least) political move during an election year.

With all that said, I am still SUPER grateful for DACA and appreciate the efforts that he's put in THIS year towards CIR.

Your first point is a complete lie. The statistics prove it as well as all of the immigration docket that represents mostly non-criminal, long-settled here immigrants. I know because I went through it and speak out of personal experience. I don't have DACA.

I have education, skills and a good income, ID, etc, because my parents had the excellent foresight to settle in a state (WA), and purposefully in an area where we would be the only Hispanic family around, to ensure our integration and development and acceptance, where we would be given plenty of opportunity by our own community, not by the gov. or 'advocates'. Obama's speech did not fool anyone. You are drinking his kool aid, it is a set up for the next elections. Also, I am a grown woman who's been taking care of herself for quite a while, but to answer your main point, everyone has the right to their own opinion, but NOT to their own facts. And the fact is Obama is not serious about CIR because his whole fucking speech can be summed up like this "Let me p0int the finger at everyone else, especially the GOP, but not to myself, and I am not here to offer anything new".

I am angered at the injustice and hypocrisy of his political games. You are angered by your own lack of opportunity, and I can understand that, as I do feel that way myself sometimes. But you are lying to yourself if you believe this man got off the podium and went back to his office to decide which steps he can take to improve the lives of the immigrant community.

P.S. We waited for months for Gutierrez and the House dems to introduce their "House bill" and now the only bill that can be considered is the Senate one? Do you not see his game? Minutes after his speech, Boehner's staff released a statement saying the House will NOT vote on the Senate bill. Time to consider whatever good the Republicans will offer.

You do realize he has to uphold the immigration laws by enforcing them right? I'm sorry and I'm sure everyone else here is sorry that you had to go through the pain of (you/family member) go through the deportation process.(Sorry if i'm wrong, but you said you had personal experience with this.)

I cannot wish that on anyone, but that is the risk we have living in this country. He took an Oath to uphold the constitution, and part of that is enforcing the laws that are set.

Regarding CIR being his not being his next priority; he would not give a special speech on CIR if he didn't want it to come to a vote. Also we do "have time" for the bill to pass. It was an address to nation to put CIR back on the forefront. He wants us and mainly the media to know that CIR is not dead. Think about it, how many times did you hear anything about CIR when the whole Syria situation is going on? Then when the government shutdown happened? By coming out and stating "CIR is the next priority" he effectively forced the issue back into the spotlight. It's a good thing for CIR.

Hey guys the good news is we can only be lied to 5 more weeks. If they don't pass it by then we can stop giving a shit for a while, till at least 2016 or 2035.

I think this was a historic speech while will lead to the passage of CIR later this month.

If I had a choice, I would have wanted him to start with immigration reform too. Hell, if it was up to me, I would have wanted George Bush Sr. to start with immigration reform back in 1988. I however, as an undocumented person don't have the right to tell the President of the United States what to do. History is still open on the ACA . Maybe it will be a flop but the same people who are kicking and screaming now were the same people who were kicking and screaming when Social Security was introduced.

Whether DACA was political or not is a moot point because the same people on here who all of a sudden have some normalcy in their lives are the same ones who are the loudest. I've said it before and I'll said it again, many people who have DACA have never suffered because of being undocumented so they don't realize how significant and valuable it is.
