Business leaders talk immigration at White House

Business group leaders gathered at the White House Thursday with chief of staff Denis McDonough to strategize on immigration reform. Attendees included representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers – groups that could be influential in pressuring House Republicans to act on immigration. “Mr. McDonough’s meeting is intended to continue conversations with folks –inside and outside government – supportive of advancing commonsense immigration reform," a White House official said. "This is a top priority for the President and we’ll continue to do everything we can to get this done. It’s important to remember that immigration reform is good for the economy. It’ll reduce the deficit by nearly $850 billion over the first 20 years, and it’ll grow the economy by $1.4 trillion over 20 years, which adds 5.4% to the GDP by 2033.” The meeting followed President Barack Obama’s long-awaited return Thursday to the issue in a brief East Room speech urging advocates to keep the pressure on House Republicans to take action on the Senate’s immigration bill, saying that only public pressure will lead to action. |

Lets hope we get a (good) law passed by the end of the year. That would be great! And all us DACA people should get priorities since they have our complete life history ;)
