Banks for Credit Card?

  1. Bank of America
  2. Wells Fargo
  3. Capital One

Which of the three would you recommend? I don't think we have any Capital One in my area but Bank of America for sure. I've read that Wells Fargo accepts 80% if it's under Secured CC.

To those who have applied and got accepted, which bank would you recommend?

I have a Bank of America credit card and it's been quite easy. It doesn't have a massive credit line and that's fine with me. Ever since I got it, I've been able to actually establish a credit number, even if it's really low. Over time, it's been going up by a point or two, slowly but surely.

I used to get secured card notifications from them but eventually they mailed that I was pre-approved for a standard card and took the chance. I haven't had any issues with them, just pay on time.

Hello, in BoA, what type of credit card did you apply for, did you apply for secured credit?

I have Capital One. There aren't any physical banks near 500 miles and the headquarters are in my city. I like it. I got the secured card, however, I only paid $49 for a line of credit for $200

Re: Banks for Credit Card?

I've been having a Bank of America account since 2009 and in 2012 I decided to get a credit card with them. I went to my local BOA branch and talked to one of the associates and she told me since I have no credit and that it's my first credit card that I only qualified for a secured card. After paying a $100 (which I got back a couple months after) I had a limit of $500. This card was a tremendous help in helping build credit, since 2012 my spend limit has gone up from $500 to $5000. In addition to that card I also got approved for a Capital One Quicksilver card back in 2013 with a limit of $7000 and some months back I just got a new card with BOA (Travel Rewards Card) with a limit of $10,000. I highly recommend BOA and Capital One, they been really easy to work with and have seen great results in my credit score. My current credit score is a 747 which is not too bad considering that my credit score took a light hit when I recently applied for my last credit card. But who ever you decide to go with my biggest advice is to always make your payments on time and try to pay everything off that you owe every month if you can, never pay the minimum balance. Never miss a payment!

I started off with a BofA cash rewards card in 2013, it had a $1,000 limit which is now at $3,500. I've also had success opening cards with Discover IT, Chase Freedom, and Citi Diamond Preferred.

In the 3 years I've built my credit score to hover in the 750 - 760 range. My goal is to hit 800.

I've also taken advantage of the 0% APR promo of these cards to make large purchases. But be wise about your purchases. Have a steady payment plan to pay off the card before the promo APR ends.
