Help! AP document received from a field office

Hello,

Has anyone traveled with an emergency AP provided directly from a field office?

My grandmother is extremely sick and I decided to apply for emergency Advanced Parole for humanitarian reasons through a field office. I scheduled an infopass and brought my application, filling fee, supporting documents including her medical report and my request was granted immediately. However, the travel document they provided is different from the AP documentation I've seen from people who requested DACA AP via mail. They gave me an arrival record with an admission number similar to a I-94 with a stamp on the back saying " serves as temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residency for one year". The officer confirmed that I should present this card along with my DACA approval I-797 notice of action on my way back to the U.S.

It seems that this form of travel document is the same people who has a pending green card application receives while traveling on AP. I explained to the officer that I do not have a pending permanent resident application and that I have DACA, and he confirmed I was going to be all set when returning to the U.S with this documentation.

Can anyone share any experience with traveling outside with this form of authorization? I just want to make sure this is common procedure and that I will be safe traveling back to the U.S.

If the officer said you're good then you're good. Typically they don't give out AP at the local offices so they had to give you a document that can allow you back in. The CBP officer will also have an electronic record of your AP and can confirm with the document they gave you (proving that you are who you say you are).

Did you have to make an infopass appointment? or were you able to walk in in order to get an emergency AP? I just got the bad news that my grandfather passed away in Mexico and the burial is on Wednesday. If you were able to do a walk-in, I'll try my luck tomorrow and flight tomorrow night.

I went to the local USCIS office, I walked in said I had an emergency for AP the security personal don't know much about it their jobis to simply scan you. You got in an office wait until they are available. Now is some cases you bring evidence your package done and thats it. BUT for me they made me send the application to an USCIS office which took a week because they wanted a case number. Once I got those numbers, they right there and then approved of my AP and I left the next day. Now, when I was in Argentina I checked my email to find a email saying my package was DENIED. At the USA customs they saw my AP noticed they were strangely different but still processed it just fine

Man your got lucky. I didn't know a field's officer discretion superseded actual processing center's decisions.

Well the thing is my local office approved of my case by the case my package went to didn't. So you can imagine how freaked out I was when I saw that my case was denied while I was outside the country

I would've died! Must have been the scariest trip back to the USA, thinking they probably would not allow you in. Glad you made it back safely! I'm about to apply for advance parole and I am freaking out!
