United We Dream Said Not To Go Forward with New Applications?

Quote:

A day earlier, United We Dream (UWD) held two calls — one in English and one in Spanish — that brought together 3,000 people through their 55 affiliates in 26 states, where community members shared their deep anxiety over whether their parents will be deported and DACA protections will be stripped from DREAMers. UWD staff themselves are concerned: Most of them have DACA or are completely undocumented.
The group’s message to DACA-holders was to continue their renewal process if they are already in the middle of it, but not to go forward with new applications because of the specter that the personal information possessed by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) could be shared with other parts of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). To that end, UWD said it is pressuring the White House to clear a backlog of DACA applications and wants further measures implemented to ensure the USCIS personal data will not be shared with other agencies.

I completely forgot about that meeting with United We Dream. The general consensus here is to continue applying until Trump removes it, but I think their concerns are legitimate to advice not to do new applications. It's a gamble right now when our future is so uncertain and they have all our information.

The thing that's killing me isn't even the possible bad outcomes, it's this damn waiting game! I'm like dude just put me outta my misery at this point. This whole "what if this and what if that" and the mix of the defeatist attitude with some ppl on here is driving me nuts

I am still hanging on the hope that they won't target DACA like this.

Yes they may most likely cancel DACA, but to go the extra mile and use DACA beneficiaries as the first example of their anti-immigrant regime, by pulling the applicants information and systematically send out deportation hearing letters to one of the most productive group of people out of the entire 11 million or so undocumented population, while they scramble and scratch their head on how to find other undocumented individuals who aren't on the record anywhere???

Its them basically saying "We haven't learned anything, please don't re-elect us".

Exactly! I was debating with some one on how the hell would u find these ppl who are virtually invisible. The person was like raids and I'm dude not everyone is Latino and living in an immigrant filled community. If that is the case they'll have to go door to door every where. I know 2 mixed status black families where the undocumented ones never had anything in their name and just sit home in a middle class neighborhood so how will u track ppl like that down.

Which is why I find it very careless for them to try and deport the 1 million or so DACA beneficiaries and then fall flat on their face trying to find the other 10 million.

Is that what they want as a headline? "Trump administration deports DACA beneficiaries only, can't find anyone else"...is that what they want their immigrant policy accomplishment to be?

What lesson do you think they learned this time around? They won on a rhetoric of hate and suppression and people showed up to vote for them.

This outcome is a game changer. We can no longer pretend current American society is interested in unity and inclusion. The ugliest side of humanity has won and it is terrifying for every minority out there. Now we all feel a bit uncertain about our future in this new Post-Trump world. It's not just him, but about what is being reinforced now in society. All those kids currently in school being bullied for being Latino. And, the wave of hatred that will come. It's so saddening.

I hear ya, cannot argue with that, it is just a wave of uncertainty.

We will all have to wait and see.

I would still send it in. It is personal opinion.
