New Poll: Americans Oppose Repealing DACA Program for DREAMers By 58-28% Margin

Washington, DC – A new poll out today finds that by more than a 2:1 margin, 58%-28%, Americans oppose an effort to repeal the DACA program for DREAMers.

Conducted by Global Strategy Group, the poll also finds that intensity is strongly against repealing DACA, with 45% of respondents “strongly opposed” to a DACA repeal, while just 19% “strongly support” repealing DACA.

As we’ve been highlighting, the first major fight of Donald Trump’s presidency will be over the future of the DACA program, which Trump has pledged to repeal on day one of his administration. More than 750,000 DREAMers – who are American in all but paperwork – have relied on DACA to improve their lives and futures and to give back to their communities (see here, here, and here for examples of how DREAMers have used DACA to transform their lives and futures and to benefit the country they call home).

Ending DACA would upend the lives of talented young people and subject DREAMers to deportation. It also would hurt the American economy. A recent economic analysis from the Center for American Progress found that ending DACA would “wipe away at least $433.4 billion from the U.S. GDP cumulatively over 10 years.”

Why do people still believe in random poll results

Opinion polls are pretty accurate.

Up to an extend. This is good news but remember all polls are not 100% accurate.

Janet Napolitano is now the head of the California UC college system and is also pushing to keep daca now. Just an interesting fact I came across.

There is one thing greatly fueling my hope concerning DACA.

The concept of not taking back humanitarian relief no matter how much you may want to. I cannot see how any presidential administration can explain taking away doctors, teachers, lawyers, blue collar workers, white collar workers etc. just for unneccesary political reasons.

If anyone has any example in the history of the USA where humanitarian relief was revoked, then please provide some examples.

But I am banking on the possibility that DACA may be left alone or at least allow renewals only forever (with no new applicants allowed)

So I will be legal because I am an engineer?
