Trump to huddle Monday with bipartisan group of congressional leaders

Hopefully, the President is conciliatory. He is making requests from congressional leaders to pass his agenda. In addition, first impressions matter, and this meeting could set forth how both parties can work together to get the nation's business done.

In short, this meeting with the legislative and executive branch will be critical to any Bridge Act legislation/immigration bill.

President Trump will meet at the White House with a bipartisan group of congressional leaders on Monday, Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway confirmed to reporters late Sunday afternoon.

The meeting comes as Trump and Republicans are plotting a sweeping Hill agenda that includes the repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act, tax reform and a major infrastructure package.

Trump is also pushing for confirmation of his Cabinet nominees and has met resistance on several picks from Democrats, who argue they need more time to examine potential ethical conflicts and other concerns. And Trump is soon expected to nominate a new justice for the Supreme Court.

Monday’s meeting, first reported by Politico, will come on a day when Trump is also expected to continue trying to reshape policy through executive actions.

During an appearance Sunday morning on “Fox News Sunday,” White House chief of staff Reince Priebus said to expect executive orders this week related to trade, immigration and national security.

Priebus did not directly answer whether those orders will include one to undo an Obama administration policy that defers deportations of roughly 700,000 young undocumented immigrants known as DREAMers.

Trump also plans to make an appearance at a Republican congressional retreat later this week in Philadelphia. Conway told reporters Trump is looking forward to that opportunity.

Wonderful! So glad he is an outlier, not sticking to party boundaries like a Cruz would. DACA will definitely be mentioned!

Thanks for this post.

Here are the list of attendants: House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

Yeah, Dream Act/DACA is DEFINITELY going to come up. This will be number 1 topic on Durbin's mind.

Don't take it personal or anything but, please be thankful for where we are at.

3rd Day under Trump and DACA is still a thing.

Hopefully tomorrow brings a bit more certainty so we can all be calm.

If 60 congressional votes are there for Bridge act, they are there for DreamAct: reintroduce it.

I like how Priebus said "long-term" solution.
