House Appropriators Who Oppose Amendment to Allow DACA Recipients to Compete for Fede

Here is a list of all of the House Representatives on the Appropriations Committee who claim to have voted against the Pete Aguilar amendment that would make DACA recipients eligible for federal jobs. The amendment was passed by a voice vote and therefore not recorded. Some committee members were reported to have appealed for a recorded vote by Chairman Frelinghuysen who denied them.

Financial Services Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.):

“I spoke against this amendment, voted against it and urged all other committee members to vote against it. And I’m already working to get it stripped from the bill when it comes to the House Floor.”
RepMartha Roby (R-Ala.):

"I voted 'no' on this amendment and expressed my concerns with its inclusion in the bill to Chairman Graves. I appreciate his attention to this issue and efforts to get the amendment stripped from the final bill."

All these people who are opposing us are in the minority. Hopefully, their efforts to strip it out of the final bill fails. I also find it reassuring that we have the republican chairman of the house appropriations committee supporting us.

How does the amendment process work in order to strip this out?

What a bunch of idiots. What is in their stupid heads? World is disappointing. Is there any country on earth where this isn't an issue?

It has to go before the full House, where an amendment may be introduced to strike it from the bill. The Senate will write their own bill which will not include the DACA provision. Then both houses go to conference committee to write a final bill. It's doubtful the DACA provision will survive the entire process.

You are talking as if you are part of the senate committee in charge of this process. Who knows what they will do?

Exactly, nobody would of guessed this provision would be approved by that house committee.

I think we are all cautiously pessimistic due to all the times CIR has failed. However, the factors and stakes are different now if daca ends. I don't think most republicans want to be associated with the party that destroyed young people's lives

I can imagine all the stories of people losing their jobs not being able to support their family. That type of emotional stuff moves legislation.

They have been waiting all along to destroy our lives... Nothing will stop then now.

These AG will regret their decisions. Notice there was no talks of defunding DACA by congress. Republicans want to appear to be anti immigrants to appeal to their base but they don't want to actually follow through on this. During when obama was president it was easy for them to do this knowing he'd ultimately protect the program. It's the same thing with healthcare, they could easily repeal it with no replacement like they previously tried doing countless times.
