Re: The Hope act?

Skimmed the article. This act is a joke. Why are they wasting time on this?

Summary:
-Legalizes anyone who arrived as a minor before December 2016.
-No education or work experience requirements to gain Permanent Residency.
-If you've had DACA for 3 years, you qualify immediately for PR (you skip the Conditional PR step).

What in the world? The new DREAM Act, RACA, hell not even the Bridge Act have been able to move forward, and Luis Gutierrez is going to introduce this?? Wow.

Just pass a law that makes DACA official legislation, and save us from the current threat of DACA in danger September 5th. Be ambitious with this stuff once DACA is secure.

EDIT: Seriously. Is this a "throw sh!t at the wall and something will stick" approach? Just keep introducing Dream-like acts and see what passes?

Actually in Spanish the "h" makes an "n" sound, hence the similarity in the letter shape. It is pronounced, the NOPE Act.

Re: The Hope act?

this cannot be real there is already a hope act

The HIV Organ Policy Equity Act (the HOPE Act) is a law that modifies rules regarding organ donation between HIV-positive individuals. The law authorizes clinical research and the revision of rules about organ donation and transportation as a result of the research.

The article claims that Gutierrez will introduce this on Friday this week, and that "it will be harder to move forward than the more moderate version (Dream Act 2017)."

So, I don't get this at all. Unless it's, like I was saying, introduce 10 mini-Dream Acts that have no chance of passing to keep gathering attention to the urgent issue.

My first language is Spanish and I'm confused with that statement.

Care to explain?

It's called "hope" for a reason.
