Senator Ron Johnson on immigration reform
Johnson has said in the past farmers in his state rely on immigrant workers, but he hopes the introduction of the RAISE Act and the reintroduction of the DREAM Act will lead to productive discussions on comprehensive immigration reform.
“Well, what I’m hoping is the bill that senators Perdue and Cotton introduced possibly combined with my own guest worker visa program managed by the states, combined with what Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin are doing will start a serious discussion in terms of what we need to do in terms of fixing our incredibly broken legal immigration system,” he told host Jake Tapper. http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/06/ro...-be-selective/ |

Ron Johnson on Immigration Address comprehensive reform after border is secure Q: On Immigration: Should America's 11 million undocumented residents have an earned path to citizenship? Feingold: Yes Johnson: No. Opposed 2013 bipartisan bill. Said would consider addressing after border is secure. Strong focus on first increasing border security. Then open to considering "step by step" approach to reform legislation, including such steps as E-Verify and a guest worker program. Could then consider path to citizenship. Source: CampusElect Voter Guide to 2016 Wisconsin Senate race , Oct 9, 2018 I oppose blanket amnesty for illegal aliens Q: Should Congress create a path to citizenship for the large number of unauthorized immigrants currently living in the United States? A: I oppose blanket amnesty for illegal aliens. The federal government has failed to secure our borders and that should be our top priority. I support enforcement on businesses that knowingly hire illegal aliens and prohibiting taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal aliens. Source: League of Women Voters 2010 Candidate Questionnaire , Aug 11, 2010 Secure the borders first; no blanket amnesty later "First and foremost the federal government must act to secure our borders," says Johnson. Ron believes the federal government has failed to enforce current immigration laws and tighten our borders to stop the flow of illegal immigration. Ron opposes blanket amnesty. Ron also supports REAL ID. Businesses or employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants should be penalized and we should take steps to prevent abuse or exploitation of workers due to their immigration status. Source: 2010 Senate campaign website, www.ronjohnsonforsenate.com , Jun 10, 2010 Opposes granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. Johnson opposes the F2A survey question on amnesty Faith2Action.org is "the nation's largest network of pro-family groups." Sticking to the topic at hand, it's good to see someone that was even against the 2013 bill, talk about CIR. I just wanna let him know he's not getting the Raise act.
