NYT: Trump Seriously Considering Ending DACA, With 6-Month Delay

I decided to post this article separately because it has more information than the Politico article did. Trump is considering this option, but he could change his mind:

Quote:

The compromise, which could lead to legislation superseding President Barack Obama’s executive order, is intended to address a growing chorus of Republican lawmakers, led by the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, who have implored the White House to keep some form of the program.

The temporary solution has been the subject of quiet negotiations between Mr. Trump’s legislative staff and members of Mr. Ryan’s staff, according to an administration official familiar with the talks.

But administration aides concede that Congress may be unable to agree on a legislative fix, given the headwinds that previous legislation has run into for years. It is unclear exactly what would happen after six months if Congress does not act.

The president is scheduled to receive more counsel on the matter on Monday, before an announcement the White House has said will be made on Tuesday. The plan was first reported on Sunday night by Politico.

The White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, had no response to questions about the negotiations, other than to say Mr. Trump still intended to make some kind of announcement after Labor Day.

Guys if speaker Ryan is throwing his weight behind a legislative solution for us , then democrats better do everything in their power to make sure we get a bill passed. For once , we have a republican speaker of the house and senate majority leader who support us. This is a whole new ball game !

McConnell doesnt support us. Ryan may support us but the majority of house republicans don't. I don't understand the love some of you guys have towards republicans when most of them hate us. Ryan is gonna have to go against his own party to bring up a bill because ever since that Haster rule bills don't come up unless the majority of the party in power supports it. Same thing with the senate you will have 10-12 republicans that will support us and almost all Dems.

McConnell said he is sympathetic towards us back in Feb. It will depend what he means by that.

Who's talking about love? We are even lucky to have this much support with republicans controlling ALL branches of government . Speaker Ryan didn't have to even come out and support. What if he straight up said no legislative solution for us case closed? Some of you need to be pragmatic and realize the hand that we have been dealt with . I can guarantee you that McConnel will put out a statement favorable to us . Hatch the number 3 and most senior republican has come out in support. Corny for being the weasel that he is has stated he wants a permanent legislative solution for us. You think those guys don't talk to McConnel and coordinate with him?

I may go against the grain here , but nothing but positive outcomes for us . I'm not going to stress and be miserable like some of you guys .

People just want to be negative because of trump. They want the worst for us because of trump. They want to blame everything on trump. It is ridiculous.

Agreed. Let's not be so pessimistic now, Trump could go with worse options such as just ending the program right away and letting our EADs expire and not even telling Congress to do something for us. At least now we can make back up plans and get in that last renewal and have another 2 years to get it together. And there is some hope with Congress. Let's see what happens. Nothing is official yet.

This is for lakers

Quote:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told reporters Friday that he is very sympathetic toward the estimated 750,000 illegal immigrants who came to the country at a young age.

He said he is “anxious” to see what President Trump does about these immigrants, who received protection from deportation in 2012 by an executive order from former President Obama establishing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

"I'm very sympathetic with this situation. These are young people who were brought here at a tender age and who have grown up here or are in the process of growing up here. I'm very sympathetic to that situation and I'm anxious to see what the president decides to do," McConnell told reporters.

That's the spirit we need around here. Thanks.
